I have never really look into Hublot but the 45mm classic fusion on a bracelet got me thinking. My only problem with this watch is the Hub 1112 movement. I don't know of I can justify the price for a Sellita SW300 movement with an "inhouse date mod". What is everyone thoughts on this?

Frankly that's my problem with a whole bunch of super-expensive watches. Past a certain price point I insist on a fully in-house movement.

Not a big fan of Hublot, and would have a harder time buying the generic movement now that in house variants are available. I don't have an issue per se with non in house - I have a number of pieces that are technically based on generic movements - but hugely modified - my Franc Vila for example pretty much only uses the main plate.

I do think that the price for Sellita (which is after all a generic copy of a generic movement) is ridiculous - I can't think of anyone else close to that price point using them.

I was in the Hublot boutique a while back checking out some pieces, and they were actually very cool The designs were great, and I loved the way they wore. The prices were pretty preposterous though. And the saleslady acted like they were the holy grail of watches. It was a real put off.

You cannot beat the durability and service of Hublot. Yes it is a high end watch so it comes with a high end price. Is it worth it? I got a decent discount on mine but was still hesitant as I thought I was overpaying for what I got, but now after having it, it is my favourite by far. Having one makes me want to buy another one.

I'd take the GO out of those.

"inhouse date mod"... stop the presses!

Seriously, I like Hublot's designs... but too expensive for my blood. Plus with all due respect, I can think of 10 other watches that I would buy with a budget of 10k plus.

I was just reading that the Big Bang Hub 4100 movement is a modded eta 2894-2! Tell me I'm wrong please, 14,000 for a non inhouse. Does anyone know if this is an accurate statement?

Thats pretty typical with Hublot. They have the new in-house line, but the prices are even higher.

Did I hear someone say subc??

It's a great watch. And if there is one that will stay in the collection for a long time....I would bet dollars to doughnuts the would be the piece.

Personal preferences here, but while I like most GOs the sport for some reason doesn't do it for me. Of the three you mentioned, you can't go wrong with the GMT. Never out of style, a helpful complication and to the degree it may matter that your mom understands what she's spending all this money for, far more people "get" a Rolex. Since you mentioned an AP, used AP Jumbo 15300s can be had around the $9-10K mark.

i think you should stick to a cheaper watch if you are hung up on this. with the finer things in life they will not make economic sense and hublot is in that category.
