Well it seems Omega keep on delivering home runs, the new PloProf reincarnation is awesome! They did it exactely as Breitling did the Superocean Heritage, looked back at their history and delivered a modern alternative for their hard core fans. Notice most people who are unfamiliar with the original PloProf will probably dislike this release, but for those interested in history and looking for a pure sport watch, this is the stuff. I am definately getting one, it looks great on a black rubber strap. http://perpetuelle.com/ForumThreadModeD ... ly&Reply=Y |

That is a beauty, but pretty hard core for me! But I agree, the Omegas are really starting to take a big turn for the better. The new Aqua Terra, as you know, just swept me off my feet. Hope to have it in a couple of weeks. Cheers, Carl |

I thought the original was a dog, and since the new one looks exactly the same...... I give it points from a historical standpoint, but it just looks horrendous from any modern perspective. If this thing gets anywhere near the love of the original though, Omega has a big hit on their hands. |

Can't see it on my wrist, but I can appreciate it for what it is and it certainly does look like a winner. Definitely a hard-core tool watch which picks up from the old version. |

You know its lack of finnesse and boxy, technical feel is why I love this watch. In fact Omega, in their advertising of the original, bluntely call it an ugly watch. But it is not meant for the clubbing crowd or the office divers, its a pure diving sport watch. Everything about it was tailored to its goal, a dependable, highly functional, diving instrument. It really does look like a high end tool rather than a watch, which is exactely why I love it. Mind you I am not likely to wear it all that often, its not an everyday watch for sure. Part of the reason it caught my attention was that the original was certified as tighter than a submarine, and just as tough! If G Shocks and Suuntos were not invented the military would not issue modern Breitlings or Panerais, it would be this tank. |

I really like it..... but then I really liked the original. It's got such a great late 60's early 70's feel about it. The kind of thing Bond would've worn in Thunderball (if he wasn't wearing his BreiltinG!) Bizarrely I think the mesh bracelet works much better on this than it does on the SOH. Good to see it's got the 8500 in-house movement too. I'd love to know the size, and also how it wears. |

For anyone interested, the PloProf is 55mm by 48mm, and 17.5mm high. It's a fair old beast! |

Great size, really pushes the whole pure bred sports instrument feel!!! The original Panerais issued to the Italian military were 60MM, and so where many other diver watches at that time, the original Pilot watches of WWII where very big as well. |
