Lately, I have been looking at some less expensive and more casual Diver's, or as the term seems to be "tool" watches. I really though I had it narrowed down to the Sinn U1 or the Ocean7 LM6. The only drawback to those two, is that I have to purchase them on the internet as there is no AD for either one. As excellent as the service may well be, the thought of having to send the watch away to be serviced kind of intimidates me. I realize that they both have a reputation for excellent service. Today, I was at a local watch shop called TimeCo in the mall downtown. They carry Tutima watches, a brand I have also been interested in for a time. I saw a beautiful orange dial DI300 in the case, Titanium with rubber strap and Ti deployant clasp. I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality, a very pleasing and simple design. Even the small day/date at 3o'clock is well done, in black with white lettering. The markers are simple as well. I was comparing it very favourably in my mind to the Sinn U1 and the Ocean7 LM6. The plus for me was that it is an AD, although the person serving me did not know a lot about the watch. The other thing was the price: $1500. Canadian dollars, but they are having a sale at 30% off, so I could get it for $1050.CAD. The LM6 is $799.USD, which would put it about the same, and the U1 is slightly more at over $1600. Anway, I'm kind of hooked on this DI300, and wonder if anyone on this forum has had experience with Tutima, and in particular with this model. I can't seem to find a dedicated forum anywhere for Tutima, although I will start searching the Divers Watch and German watch forums on TZ and WUS. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Hey Carl, I've never owned one, but I have seen discussions and alot of very positive feedback on them. I am always keeping my eyes out for a yellow or orange dial to pop up on the forums. They usually go for around the $700-800usd mark on the forums so your price from an AD is great. In my opinion, skip teh O7, there seems to be alot of negative warranty experiences with those and I think the general vibe after the LM-7 fiasco is not very good. Sinn is a solid choice, and they really stand behind their product. Service is done in the US, I've had a Sinn serviced under warranty in the US without any issues (cross-border, customs etc). At that price, go for the Tutima, you can always flip it for close to what you paid. Let us know what you decide. |

Hey MarkJnk, Thanks for the feedback. I do feel cautious about the whole Ocean7 thing, as well there is no Sinn AD. I am torn between the U1 and the Tutima, but because there is a dealer here in town that pretty much decides it for me. Now to go about selling my Steelfish! I made a pact with myself, no more new watches until one or more of my Breitlings which get no wrist time are sold. I was also considering a SuperOcean with Coral dial, but prices again are around 2 grand, with a 20% discount. Sometimes, it's just time to move on and try another make of watch. I have done some pretty extensive searches, and I can come up with no negative feedback on Tutima. Cheers, Carl |

Carl, wait for Holmes to chime in. He simply loves his Tutimas! And for good reason, they are superb watches. I never really cared for some of their designs of some of their bracelets, but they are to die for on leather. Im sure he could provide better insight on models and movements and such. |
