Hi, I'm new to this watch thing, and there are so many different watches out there that it has taken me weeks just to get a good idea of what I like. I find that I am really starting to like German watches. Sinn 857, Nomos Ludwig but this one catch my attention http://www.swisslink.com/products/produ ... 063&sid=20 I love his blasted stainless steel straight cylindrical form and we can easily read the time under all conditions. Also if anybody has any comments on German brands, I would love to hear them. Thanks |

I have a Sinn 103 which is just about my perfect watch - 7750 chronograph, day/date, countdown bezel, display back. Quality is a tad below Breitling but excellent value for money. Highly recommended. |

The German watch industry is thriving - many, many manufacturers. And just like the Swiss industry something for every budget - right up to A Lange & Sohne. |

This is easy. Tutima. The only authorized and issued watch to all German Air Force and NATO since winning the contract in 1985. The military chronographs are required to use the famous Lemania ca 5100 movement. Tutima is the only watch in the world with this contractual right. The Tutimas had to pass a full series of German stress tests, among others to win the contract. They are not well known in the US as they are a small company but they have company representation in California. Watch people who know, will generally vote for the ca 5100 over any other chronograph movement. |

Some of the nicest movements on earth!!! Other than that I'd recommend Sinn and Nomos for a solid, inexpensive everyday watch. If you wanted something a little dressier and didnt want to break the bank for a Lange, then check out Benzinger. They have some very nice skeletonized watches. Also check out MeisterSinger, very unique designs and reasonable prices. |

I really like German watches, and in many ways prefer the 3/4 plate look of their movements over the more open look of swiss movements. But I think like anything else, it is because most movements I have are swiss, so having a German 3/4 plate manufacture movement is a bit more of a novelty. |
