Well I just can't think straight so I need you guys to make the decision for me.

As you know I was promised an IWC BI by an AD in a neighboring country a week ago, which he did not deliver on. His excuse did not quite cut it with me and after some talking to he finally fessed up, the BI he got was defective and he sent it back to IWC. They fixed it and now it is running fine however it has a tiny scratch on it (which can be easily polished out)

Now normally I would not think about touching it, but he offered it to me at an incredible discount. The watch (which retails for 12K USD) can be mine for 6.5K, unherd of om an IWC of this caliber.

I am worried about the issue coming back and, since there is no IWC AD over here, I would have to wait until I am in Bahrain to get it fixed. But the savings are very, very substantial on a watch I am unlikely to see again for at least another three months.

So what would you do? Get the IWC now or get another watch you want now (he has a JLC I rather like) and just wait for the Big Inge?

At that kind of discount, if you want the watch I would say go for it. I would insist on him polishing out the scratch for you, but I wouldn't be overly concerned about the problem because you still have a full warranty. I doubt that the problem will come back, but that's your safeguard.

To me the trade off is worth the extra $x dollars and 3 months wait that is the alternative.

Hey Altair, if you don't want it for that price, I'll have it!!!!

Discounts like that on BI's (and BP's for that matter) just don't come around very often. I agree with Roff that you should insist on the AD removing the scratch, but I'd be sorely tempted to buy it if I was you.

You guys make a good point, going for it. I will be in Bahrain this weekend and will pick it up!

He was actually quite reasonable, said I can bring it back in a week or less if I want a refund.

That does sound like an incredible deal Altair - I would go for it!! There's really no downside with the warranty in place as Roff indicated!

Good luck!

I am actually disagreeing. I have a feeling if your anything like most of us just that question of a possible problem already with something expecially a watch that you are paying over 6k for might bug you. At least I know every time I would look at it I would know that a scratch already was buffed out or there might be a little bump in the movement working properly. Just my take on it, Im sure it will be fine but my OCD couldnt stand it.
