Wow, this is tough - worst on what basis?

I agree with Movado and Rado being way more sizzle than steak, but the pieces have a degree of inherent quality. I guess the problem is that you could say that about most of the designer brands though.

In terms of least bang for the buck, I'd have to add Porsche Design to the list, in terms of inherent quality I guess the Chinese pieces are still going to struggle - Sea Gull et al, although at the price point they aren't bad - same could be said for the Russians.

I don’t think you can say any watch brand are the worst I think every watch brand has a market for example there are some perfectly good watches out there for virtually nothing as in under $5 but there are some $50.000 diamond encrusted solid gold quality watches that I wouldn’t be seen dead with so it’s all horses for courses and how much you have to spend and what you personally like, I had a Rado ceramica and it got lots of comments and was a very reliable watch I paid about $400 I think but that’s a third of its retail for the money I paid I was happy if however I had of paid $2000 I might not have been, There is a lot of rubbish written about watches some say Rolex are the best some PP some AP some JLC I just know what I like and that’s what I will buy as for which are good or not surely that’s a subjective thing and one man may like GM another Buick another Ford does it mean all fords are rubbish no it just means one man prefers another brand that’s all.

I am not trying to burst anyone’s bubble here but we are all led to believe Swiss is best and that maybe just marketing or maybe the truth or not most of the best watches are made in Switzerland and I don’t think the Swiss are complaining but if I had only $40 to spend and I bought a swatch or Timex etc and it lasted me 5 years and kept perfect time what is the issue. My father would never spend more than say $100 on a watch and cannot understand why anyone including me would want to spend any more in his eyes to quote "It's a total and utter waste of money" now that’s is what he believes and no one will ever change his mind but he sees nothing wrong in buying over 3000+ dvs but that’s his choice I buy watches he buys DVDs and both of us purchase and spend our money on what makes us happy.

I once owned a Tag SE/L it was the quartz model and I loved the watch it was $1000 or something like that back in 1996 they were a new model then and everybody wanted them and I had one It was great right up until the point where I read a review that said "tag is a poor man’s Breitling" I had never had a Breitling at that point but it made me want one, I sold the Tag for $500 and went and bought a Aerospace for $1150 at Diamonds International in St Thomas, And I loved the Aerospace and I slagged off everyone’s Tag that I saw was the Aerospace any better than the Tag well not really they both told the time and were very accurate but some like Tag and some like Breitling at the end of the day they are both tell the time and both look nice in my opinion so as I said its horses for courses.
The one exception to the rule is designer watches which have the same movement as a $5 watch but because they have a designer name they are $100 thats is something I always think is the worst kind of rip off and brain washing or consumers.

Oh and one more thing the Rado Ceramica Multifunction uses the same ETA movement as the Breitling Aerospace .

IMO a nice watch to me has little to do with informing me of the time, although it is a nice perk. We all have cell phones with the time on them. It has to do with your personal style. There are a lot of good looking watches that don't cost a lot. I think Citizen makes some gorgeous watches. What attracted Breitling to me was the size, look, and elegance. It looked just right on my 7.5 inch wrist, 6'5" frame. I had no idea how much they were, all I know is this watch (SA) was the perfect watch for me. Each brand caters to a different client.

That being said, I think Rolex is way over rated.

I think that rolexes PR machine is fantastic I wonder how much they pay all the rappers to include refereneces to their watches in each song and how many times do we hear it and get brainwashed dont get me wrong I am not having a go at Rolex but they cater for a market and that market is usualy people who dont know a lot about watches.

Hello,
I think it is better to concentrate on the POSITIVES! not the negatives....

RULES also suck.... so only the swiss make good watches.... WHAT ABOUT LANGE ?

I think some watches are more wanted than others... also ... times change...

in the early 80s... every swiss maker needed a quartz model in their range.... now the quartz ones are shunned....

Rolex had the OYSTERQUARTZ
Patek had heaps.... like the Patek Calatrava 3944
AP had heaps of quartz....

TIMES CHANGE...

Now dinner plate watches are in !@#@#?

Saying Louis Vuitton makes bad watches is so stupid I won't even go into it. Do some research before you make a statement.

Rolex and Patek Philippe for me, both make seriously ugly and over rated watches. I can't think of any model of either brand that I like.

If you didn't own one, perhaps your response would have been tempered a little?

I am wondering (not that I doubt Altair, although his stance on Tag is a little harsh IMO) what he thinks is so bad about LV. Also would like to understand what is so bad about Tag, since it's essentially the same movement (sans a few mods) Breitling uses in their stuff.

Not in the least. I have a Panerai and have no trouble saying it is the least accurate of my 'collection'. The Vuitton Tambour Diver is one of the most accurate of them all and it really is made to a very high standard for a very reasonable price. They started a complete new watch factory and lured away a lot of skilled personel from other famous Swiss watchmakers. It's not difficult to do some research behind an item or brand before trashing it.
