Post subject: | New Rolex Bracelets |
Ever since Vanessa mentioned in a reply to one of my posts about Rolex releasing new bracelets (the ones with solid centre links and machined clasps instead of the frankly rubbish pressed steel ones), I've been trying to find out a bit more about them. Apparently, according to a Rolex forum, the whole range except the Submariner / Sea Dweller (typical!) have been updated. However I've also heard that the Submariner bracelet may be due for upgrade next year. Has any got any pictures of the new design as I can't find a single example and I'm starting to wonder if it's all a big urban myth! (Basically I am really hoping that firstly the new design eventually arrives for the Submariner, and secondly that it fits the current case). Any info/pics anyone might have would be appreciated. |

Have a look at this article by John Holbrook on the new GMT II. Item 4 describes the bracelet. http://www.rolexreferencepage.com/newgmt/newgmtii.html Cheers |

Hey nice going Sharkmouth! That's a decent article with some quality pics of the new clasp. Looks SOOOOO much better than the old one. When they do that for the Submariner I'm first in the queue for a replacement! In fact I may ask my AD if the GMT Master II bracelet in the article will fit. I'm an impatient man! ![]() |

Wow that's a relief, I was considering purchasing the Blue/Red Dial GMT-Master-II. The AD didn't want to budge on the retail price though, so I guess a loss for him lol. |

Not really, that watch is discountinued and will probably rise in price. How much will that new bracelet cost alone? I am guessing 400-500 USD?! |

What should be the retail for the new GMT-Master II? I've been checking various sites and the list for this watch was 8-9K. Isn't that abit marked up? |

WOW, it really shouldnt be that high. I dont think the MSRP changed, just the pricing for the discountinued models. |

Bit of an update on my Rolex bracelet question. I was in town this weekend and (obviously) was magnetically drawn to my AD, so I dropped in and had a quick chat. As they are Rolex AD's as well Breitling I mentioned about getting a newer style bracelet for my 50th Anniversary Submariner, and he gave me the kind of knowing look that someone gives when they've clearly been asked the same questions a hundred times. Apparently, Rolex ensure that their newer (solid-centre-linked) bracelets DO NOT fit older models by slightly offsetting the pin holes, hence making sure that even if the lug width is the same, the bracelet will never sit flush. And while there are rumours of a new Submariner next year, Rolex are not giving anything away. So I've come to a decision - since the bracelet and clasp on my Rolex bother me so much, I think I'm going to have to sell it. It's a shame as the case and movement are fantastic, but I think for £3030 ($6060 approx), I need to be 100% happy with it..... and I am just not. So it goes up for sale tomorrow. PS - If anyone on here fancies giving me £2800 for it (it's 5 months old, been worn no more than 5 times, it's 100% mint with not a single scratch, purchased by me from a UK AD, and has all boxes, papers, bezel protector, hang tags, EVERYTHING etc) then PM me and we can talk. (There is a fairly poor pic of it here (3rd one down (obviously!) - http://www.breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/v ... .php?t=666 |

Driver8 - I think you may be right! I always thought the bracelet on my Submariner (purchased in 1978 - yes, I'm very old) particularly flimsy - and when I recently saw a GMT ll with the new bracelet and ceramic bezel, I fell in love - so much so that I've ordered one! As to selling your 50th anniversary edition - I'd be tempted to keep it, but then I fully realise that we do have to sell sometimes to purchase others - I'm hanging on to mine...which is the principal reason that I have so many of the damn things ![]() |

I can see the attraction of keeping hold of it Sportback, but I like to wear my watches and I have to be 100% happy with them as I do consider them a luxury. My Rolex bracelet just nags at me, so I think I will still sell it. I know what you mean about the new GMT Master II. The build of the bracelet and clasp is just so much better, and the ceramic bezel looks the absolute business! If the new Submariner (if one ever arrives!) has the same attention to detail, then I'll definitely buy one. Apparently Rolex have managed to create a green ceramic bezel, so you never know, there may be a green bezel NEW Submariner coming at some point! |

Having seen the pictures, the bracelet looks like a copy of the Omega Aqua Terra. The links look good, but the clasp still somewhat crappy compared to a Pilot bracelet. BG Thomas |
