Here are a couple links to out of print books on watches that some might find interesting. These (and other ebooks where I found these) are no longer under copyright in the U.S. These are old texts and illustrations - the 1st book was originally copyrighted in 1904 & the author of the 2nd book lived 1816/1905.

Titled: "Watch and Clock Escapements - A Complete Study in Theory and Practice of the Lever, Cylinder and Chronometer Escapements, Together with a Brief Account of the Origin and Evolution of the Escapement in Horology"

And

Titled: "A Rudimentary Treatise on Clocks, Watches and Bells"

These and thousands more books are available from "Project Gutenberg" here: http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page Project Gutenberg is the largest repository of FREE electronic books. Do an author search: Mark Twain, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Cervantes, etc. etc.

Cool. Not sure I need an entire treatise anymore. I will just wait for the next chapter from Professor Roffensian! :D

That first book is extremely good if, like me, you are a watch technology geek. I knew that there was an e-version available, but I am actually looking for a copy in paper form - I have access to one, but the owner isn't selling.
