which one did you own? And compared to Breitling, trying to be unbiased, which did you think was better?

I had a Blue Surf, Excellent watch. I would highly recomend them. A little pricy for the avg collector. I am refering to myself. I purchased mine as a preowned piece.

O yah, that is a nice watch. Its not in production anymore though. I was thinking, if i ever got a Ulysse Nardin, to go for the Maxi Marine Chronometer 43mm with a black/blue dial and either the steel or rubber strap/bracelet. What do you think?

Nardin makes some awesome pieces but can be very expensive. The Maxi Marine is the most reasonable and I have often thought about snagging a white or grey dialed one.. but alas another Breitling ends up stealing my watch fund! :)

Excellent watches, very well made. But their designs are a bit too out there for me usually. The Maxi Marine on the other hand are the exception, always have been on my to get list just never quite high enoug to grab one. If you like the design they are certinely worth the asking price.

I have a black MMD that my jeweler showed me and bought on the spot. However, I wish I had looked into the other colors available, like the grey face w/ blue hands or the Surf. The Freak is cool, but pricey. Saw a replica and was tempted.

The Yellow and also the Red Maxi Marine are cool looking (expecially the red), but I wonder how much a I woud wear an all red or all yellow watch (with matching straps, that is)

George at Govberg wears a MMD and I've asked him in the past about how he likes it. He told me it's an excellent watch, I believe he has the bracelet and the rubber strap with the titanium clasp, he said that alone retails for like $800. He said as nice as UNs are, they have a pretty low resale value. I think the MMD with the rhodium dial is a very nice looking watch, just not sure if it's something I would like in the long run or get tired of.

UN is definitely a brand to watch. Some of the work that they are doing with silicon for some of the parts is pretty cool, and potentially will make future watches much cheaper to maintain as the servicing needs will be much less.

They're an interesting brand in terms of style, the Diver watches that were their bread and butter for so long don't do it for me (with one or two exceptions), but some of their more 'out there' styles definitely appeal.

Ya, i agree with you Roff, but the watches that are more "out there", are the ones that cost tens of thousands....

I love the brand. I especially love the Freak. i guess it's one of the 'out there' models maybe... but... for me, it's killer. I will own one someday.
