Post subject:  Rolex or Breitling?

I've been searching for the perfect watch for a while now, as many of you may know after reading my posts. And i came across the Rolex Sea dweller, which is about $7000 for the most basic model. I really want it, but its the price that makes me go after cheaper watches, (also the reason for not goin for the Blackbird). But do you guys think a rolex is worth the wait and work? Or should i get a Breitling Blackbird by the time i save up enough? Both are around $7000, whats more worth it? I love them both the same, so i need a little tiebreaker. Or of course the third option of going for a Aeromarine watch or Aerospace for much cheaper, and possibly getting 2 instead of one.

Thanks,
cRaSiAn1030

This question has been asked a few times ROLEX V LING, truth is your on a Breitling forum so the answers will be Biased. I have owned a Rolex and I found the build quality of the clasp very much lacking to be fair. The time keeping was not that good either IMHO. I would go for a ling as your first watch and the Blackbird is a good start :lingsrock: If you were to ask the same question on TURF you would get a differant responce i'm sure.

I'm not going to answer the question, my answer is obvious anyway, but I will say this.

In the last couple of weeks on here you have asked about a number of very different watches. To me, that suggests that you aren't that clear in your own mind about what you really want, and at 14 I can completely understand that - I sure as heck didn't know what I wanted at that age.

I said on the other thread that I don't consider 14 too young, but any age is too young if you aren't yet sure about what you want. Take a break - do 14 year old things for a few weeks, and then come back and see what still appeals. The last thing that you want to do is buy something and regret it.

Hope that doesn't sound patronising!

If you're into 'just a watch', get the Rolex, if you're into art, get the Blackbird ;).. I think it really comes down to what you want from your watch - The Submariner is the (so to say) most common watch, and that is not without reason! On the other hand, you have the Blackbird, being a 'piece of art', yet maybe more.. uncommon, special etc... than the average non-watch-interested person would be buying. Or atleast thats how I think about it
