I've never done a transaction this way. I have always used paypal with my CC for safety. A guy I am looking to purchase a watch from says he does not accept paypal, only bank wire. He has offerred many references I can check on.
How am I protected this way? I was really hoping to use my CC for protection and points :D
I appreciate any information guys!
Thanks
Christopher

Fact is, you aren't. Buyers do not have any protection when it comes to a bank wire. Once the funds are wired, they're instantly gone from your bank account and in the seller's. You can't reverse a bank wire. At least with paypal and your credit card, you can dispute the charge if the seller tries to scam. Best way to do a watch deal is face to face in cash.

Would I be able to utilize my CC or Visa/Debit card through the bank somehow?

I would ask him for a safer way to purchase....if he refuses just pass on the deal. That's my opinion. I usually pay the say way as you through Paypal. He will understand your point if you stress your concerns to him about sending that kind of money with no way to refund if anything shall go wrong even with good references. Just my 2 cents and good luck with the purchase

Nope.

Shade's advice was good.

I've paid for things by wire transfer in the past, but always with businesses, never individuals, and not in the past several years. The advice that you have is good and these days there is always another alternative.
