as some of you may no i was looking at the jaeger le coutre master compressor chronograph:

and more recently there has been another contender, the Zenith open defy clasic Open :

I thought i would run a little poll between the Zenith and the JLC just to see what you guys prefer, i am sort of more on the side of the Zenith.....

I am also thinking about the baume et mercier classima executive i have been very intrested in this watch for a while as i love the back :D

And finaly the ooooh so lovley omega seamaster chrono, i have been holding off on this for a while due to wanting a zenith or a JLC more, but i think at some point this year i WILL have to get it for a evreyday watch along with my tag heuer.

I think 1st up on the list will have to be the zenith or the JLC then omega then if i am still intrested, the B&M :o

so what do you guys think? ( sorry about the spelling)

Mabey i should explain my reasons

JLC : always been a big deal to me. In house movments hand made, hand asembled by one master watch maker, takes about 2 years to think of the movments that they put in each watch, aswell as each modal has a diffrent movment.

its the genral attention to deatail.

Zenith : always been my " rolex watch " as i like to call it ( on the fact that you ask anyone about fancy watches they think rolex...) The most bullet proof watch made, the most accuret watch's ( from what i here ) they do 36,000 vph aposed to the normal 28,800 vph so a ultra slick sweep.

Once again hand made, hand asembled diffrent movments in each peace ( i think ). absoloutly amazing peaces.

B&M : dont no much about theys peces but i love the " london brand " they have, i have always wanted a skeliton watch untill i wore the Maurice Lacroix skeliton watch.... i hated it...... but i love that the b&m has that window on the front and the massive show back.

Omega : In house movments, very good price, bit suttle, just love it realy :D

Zenith Defy Classic Open without a doubt IMO. The JLC may be more money, but I've wanted that Zenith (either white dial SS on bracelet, or white dial TT on leather) for some time now. It's a beauty.

Zenith. I just do not like JLC's. THe new Zenith's look really cool to me. Modern, interesting materials combinations. Real eye-catchers.

Get the Zenith. It is an awesome time piece. The JLC doesnt do anything for me. Dont get me wrong, JLC makes some impressive watches, just not this one...IMO. Now if we were comparing the JLC Doumetre (sp?) vs that Zenith.......

Zenith without a doubt, that JLC doesn't really do anything for me either.

Seems I'm the only one who prefers the JLC. :D

Well, I guess that's good for me, then there will be less competition when/if I find a good deal on one. ;)

The B&M and Omega do nothing for me - yes, I'm a snob.

As far as the Zenith vs. JLC is concerned, I think everyone knows my feelings on Zenith - if the CAD to USD exchange rate hadn't changed dramatically in the last few months I would already own one. The Defy Classic was one of the watches I was looking at, but as my collection expands I think that a Defy Extreme will appear one day and the more conservative watch will be a Chronomaster Open. However, like most the Zenith would be my choice over the Master Compressor.

In terms of JLC - there is absolutely no doubt that I will own a JLC one day - for all the reasons that you say, but I think that it will likely only be one, and this JLC just doesn't really strike me as a real stand out - maybe the Extreme World Chrono or the Diving Chronograph.

I voted for the JLC, but this would really be a decision based on what else is in the collection. How do these two choices fit in/balance or fill out the collection? I don't really know what else you have so it's hard to comment.

Good point raised by in2deep, we really need to know what your current collection consists of and what you also plan to get as well as what you are looking for to really make an informed decision. That said I will always take a JLC over a Zenith. Different class IMHO.

I voted JLC...i think it's a beautiful piece. Zenith just don't do it for me with their designs.
