I picked up an IWC catalogue today, and it makes for some amazing reading. The IWC perpetual calendar movement is frankly incredible as it even displays the century........ which the B29 does not. The current century wheel in all current perpetual calendar IWC's show 20, 21 and 22, which means that it will lose it's usefulness after Dec 2299. But never fear, IWC are already supplying a date wheel with 22, 23 and 24 on it so it will last through to 2499!! ![]() And some of the figures are amazing. For example the gear reduction between the seconds hand and the century indicator wheel in 6,315,840,000:1 ![]() ![]() It's a nice catalogue too. |

Quote: It's a nice catalogue too. 100% agree. A great read rather than simply a picture book like most watch catalogues. I would also recommend Blancpain if you've not seen it.Quote: ...after no fewer than 25,228,800,000 oscillations - marks the change of the century by moving just 26 degrees! Ah, but will it adjust itself for the leap second next week ![]() |

There's an interview with the CEO of IWC in this months International Watch and that's exactly what he says - they like to tell the story of their watches. |

It is amazing that a movement is that precise. Why I love them! |

It's a great catalogue. I knew after reading it that I had to get an IWC. I was particularly impressed that they maintain availability of parts for all watches they have ever made. In another hundred years they will still have the parts for my Pilot's Chrono. ![]() |
