I have a question for some of you in law enforcement or anyone with an opinion for that matter. I wear my Breitlings during work hours, but when I'm out in the field on enforcement activities, I swap out to a "beater" watch. Well that watch has finally taken a dump on me, so what are your thoughts on the Luminox 1888 Field Chrono, 47mm.

Having owned several Luminox watches (not the one you mention, however) I would have to say that I would recommend a Marathon over the Luminox. Luminox make nice watches, but the Marathon TSAR that I have, which is an entry level model from them, outclasses any luminox I've handled or owned as far as build quality.

Keep in mind I am not an LEO, just a tactical tool enthusiast. I collect knives/tools, a flashlight here and there, and occasionally (VERY occasionally) have participated in mall-ninja related shennanigans. :)

I will check out the Marathon TSAR, thanks for the update. Shennanigans, one of my favorite things to be involved in. NICE.

You can't go wrong with Luminox watches. I along with several other of my friends have worn or are wearing them right now as daily "duty wear". Its still funny that alot of cops still wear very cheap watches and think that the watch guys are still kind of freaky. They will drop a ton on a new hand gun with all the extras but a watch....no way! I and some of my buds are into watches, guns and fine tactical knifes.....ouch $$$$. But again they are great watches and with the glass tubes you don't ever have to worry about night time work.

As a firefighter I need a beater too.My Luminox isn't one of the more expensive ones but I've got nothing but praise for it.It cops a hell of a beating but as yet is completely unmarked. It consistantly gains two seconds per month. Can't comment on the Marathon only to say that it looks great and maybe one day I could make it a backup beater.
