anyone own a datejust?i think its my fav. rolex if only it came in a 40mm size,itd be a must own. do post some wristshots if anyones lucky enough to have one.

Beutifull and bomb proof watch!!! I sold mine a few months ago and got a GMT II recentely, the GMT just smiles back at me more and has the benefit of tracking multiple timezones, in my opinion its a great office/travel watch. Rolex just dont die and you can easly resell them.

Whatever you get, Rolex is always a great choice.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rolex movements and cases, (I own a 50th Anniversary Submariner myself) and their resale value is fantastic. BUT I have a real problem with the feel of the bracelet with the hollow centre links. And to be honest the clasp just is not good enough on watches of that standard. Breitling are MILES ahead on bracelet and clasp design.

Just my 2 pence worth..

I do like some Rolexes.. I've wanted one a little bit for a while. If the Day-date or the Datejust came in 41-42mm I would be quite inclined to buy one.

Agreed, the bracelet is not the best but its still an amazing watch, buitifull and amazingly well engineered. A direct comparison with Breitling is like comparing apples to oranges, totaly different yet uniquely exquitie timepieces.

Agreed they are very different things, but even putting comparisons aside, I still just can't help thinking that Rolex as a company is missing a trick with the bracelet and clasp. I was chatting about this a while back to a guy who used to work for Rolex and he agreed with me, but said that all the time Rolexes have the perceived kudos they carry, and command the prices they do, then the company has "absolutely no incentive to bring the bracelet up to modern standards". (His words I might add!) Strikes me as a little (dare I say) arrogant of Rolex there.....

Like I say, I love the quality of the movement and the case/crown/bezel, but the bracelet lets the whole thing down for me. I'm glad to own the one I do, but I'd never buy another.

Have you taken the time to look at the NEW BRACELET DESIGNS lately? They're solid links, with very thick clasps, in 904L steel...
I think you're a little behind in your statements...
(And the one Altair has, still has the old design.)

The new Yachtmaster is over 40mm!

Hey Vanessa, have you got any pics of the new Rolex bracelets please? My Submariner is a 2007 version (it's only a few months old) so I assumed it was the latest design, but if I could upgrade the bracelet I'd be a very VERY happy man!! :D As I've said, it's a truly great watch in all other respects.....
