For those of us that would never wear a smartwatch, here is an interesting alternative for our old tech vintage Breitlings (or any mechanical watch).

It is a thin disc that attaches to the back of any mechanical watch and works with Apple technology. It can send vibration notifications of calls, etc. that can be tailored to individual callers...such as the boss at work or at home. You can also easily remove it and put it on another watch in your collection.

I ordered one today from Kickstarter, it will arrive in the spring and cost $99. I will report my findings after deciding which watch to do the trial run on.

Seems to me anything that vibrates at a high rate could have a detrimental affect on a mechanical watch that's been finally adjusted for accurate timekeeping.

I remember a time when young when "going out to play for the day" meant no one could get in touch until I got home and picked up messages, we were not disturbed and distracted by constant chatter, and seemed to enjoy what we were doing a lot.

Don't get me wrong I love technology and work with it as a day job.

I just wonder Whether it's all just "the emperors new clothes"

I toyed with buying an iWatch and bought a Breitling instead, mine tells the time and the date, but I love admiring how well it is made, there is something so nice about how the secondhand moves

I would love an emergency mission, even tried to pitch the idea to my wife that owning one might save our lives if a plane went down - she declined to play ball

I got the last word in though "well remember whose decision it was when we need rescue one day, you will be sorry then "

The point is that some of us have meetings and meetings...and you can't pull your phone out during most meetings...but this is a way to set the thing to vibrate only for certain individuals who are sometimes less than patient.

That's how I got my wife to allow me to buy a misson, mine arrives next week.

Good grief, that's all I need. Strapping this to the back of my watch to tell me I missed a call. I like missing calls, but now I will have no excuses. It will also take the average height of my watches up a few millimetres, maybe.
