Hi guyz!

Well I had my eye on one of the two winders that Driver8 mentioned previously so I decided to go for this one just to see what it was like and with my SA arriving tommorrow

I thought I could do with somewhere to store both watches..................

Anyway, I'm wondering what the best setting would be for my watch. There are 4 programs as detailed below.

P1 - Winder turns clockwise only, turning 6 mins, resting for 30 mins, then repeating.

P2 - Winder turns anti-clockwise only, turning 6mins, resting for 30 mins, then repeating.

P3 - Winder turns anti-clockwise for 20 mins, resting for 10 mins, then turns clockwise for 20mins, resting for 10 mins. Cycle is then repeated.

P4 - Winder turns clockwise for 10 mins then anti-clockwise for 10 mins. This cycle repeats for 3 hours then will rest for 9 hours. The cycle then restarts from the beginning.

Does anyone have any advice or know what the best setting would be for my Skyland and my Super Avenger cos I'm not sure.

By the way the box is well crafted and very sturdy. The electronics are obviously quite cheap and there's not much to them. I've only had it switched on for a few hours but it runs with no noise at the moment. I know that will probably change over time bet hay! You get what you pay for!!!

Thanks for that Roff! I was sure that was the case cos I read it in a thread a few months back but I couldn't find the thread. Anyway thats what I set it to so I'll let you all know how I get on.

Roff, I know your not a big favourite of the Chinese motors so if it starts creaking in a few weeks/months I'll be waiting for the 'I told you so'

Santa brought me one of these winders. (The first one, NO LED's)
Question is which way does my Avenger Seawolf need to rotate?

Also the instruction manual for the winder says it should be on a timer and that my watch only needs 4 hours per day of winding, on this basis which "Function" do you guys recommend.

A. Rotate 33 seconds, rest for 12 minutes.
B. Rotate 10 minutes, rest 90 minutes.
C. Rotate 30 minutes, rest 3 hours.
D. Rotate 1 hour, Rest 3 hours.

Do you leave your winder switched on all the time your watch is on there?

Here is a heads up to U.S. collectors. The store Costco now has a very good winder made by Invicta for $49.00. Its not the best looking winder but I bought several as they are small enough to place your watches on winders and then put them into a safe. They run on ac/dc and you can recharge them and they run up to 4 months without a recharge. As of right now they are not on Costco's website but if you want to take a look at them go to www.shopnbc.com and they are listed there but for $149,00. Very quite and wind all watches. They are great also for travel and worth every penny.

Right, so we all know that watch winders are generally a very expensive minefield. However, I came across these 2 examples today and while they're made in Hong Kong they claim to use Japanese motors, are selectable in terms of clockwise or anticlockwise (no dual way apparently), and crucially have 4 rotation modes that each have rest periods. OK they may not last forever, and probably won't exactly put Chippendale to shame on the construction front, but for a budget winder I think they look alright. Well they look OK (except for the blue LED!). That second one is also available on Amazon UK for GBP70.

I think someone on the site here has the 2nd one and says it's pretty good. Still looking but want to get more stuff to fill 'em up too. Good find Driver8 Got to be worth a punt at those prices.

see now the problem with the 1st 1 is the pillow, way to small. when i got my watch wonder i had a small pittlow and my watch kept hitting the glass, got a new pillow now though

Mine looks like the second one, but without the LED. It seems to work quite well and has a number of modes for both timing and direction of rotation (including both directions). I don't use it any more though - the thing the watch sits on doesn't seem to rest tightly enough in the slot, so with any reasonably heavy watch it makes a loud clunk sort of noise on each rotation. It was driving me crazy. For what it cost me (about $A40) it was worth a try though.

Keep us informed how it performs over time, as it'd be great if we could find a cheap, reliable watch-winder to recommend on here!
