Post subject:  30m Water Resistant?

I saw this thread of WUS today and thought I'd share it here as its both quite entertaining and also quite enlightening.

Now, before you read on, here is my disclaimer!

1. Conventional wisdom regarding the fact that 30m WR basically means "splash proof" still applies.
2. The watch this guy tests is very cheap so don't try with anything expensive!
3. The construction of this 30m WR Casio is VERY different to a 30m WR Navitimer, which makes the Casio more likely to survive (before you Navi guys get any ideas!)
4. Just because this one watch does quite well, it doesn't mean that every watch will do as well!
5. And lastly just 'cause I'm posting the link doesn't mean I condone it!

With that in mind, read on.....

Really? It works fine on my iphone. I'll check the link on my laptop when I get home later.

Link works for me. Interesting and well written piece, it does make you wonder how over engineered modern pieces are.

Just a great example of a Japanese watch doing just what it claims, and probably more. Funny as well. . Thanks for sharing Driver.

Great post! I always wear my emergency when on holiday and don't think twice about swimming in the sea or a pool, or showering with it on, and you guessed it - never had an issue. Thanks for the link driver :)

I've actually worn my Navitimer while swimming in a pool on a vacation once. Nothing bad happened. Held up fine.

I've trickled a Navitimer World under water to rinse and clean it and almost instantly the glass fogged up. After posting my dilemma here on the forum, with everyone's response I knew there was water damage, so I sent it indie service.. Breitling told me that there was water damage and that the warranty would cover it. I really got lucky not having to pay for service, however it sucked having to be without my World for about 2 months.
It sounds like you were lucky having swam with it, however just be careful in the future. It's really not enough to swim with, and you could damage your watch.
