OK, I got a new Dremel tool for the ole B-Day, a few days ago. In it was some buffing wheels and polishing compound (red) marked for gold. So a little red compound on the wheel and with it set on the lowest speed I touched it to the clasp on my EVO. Ran it around a little and then wiped her down. <insert gasp here> At certain angles it looked polished but the mirror finish was definitely gone. I spend the next 15 minutes with the cape cod cloths fixing the boo boo.

So what gives? I have heard a few of you talking about using the dremel.. The red compound is designed for SOFT metal so it shouldnt have dulled the polished stainless (or so I thought). How does everyone else use the dremel?

Normally I dont mind the cape cod cloths but sometime I would like to freshen up the inner bezel and tabs on my daily worn Steelfish.

I have been gently playing with my Dremel on my old TAG s/el. On certain parts, the results have been at best, decent. I need to get a set of CC cloths & see how they work, but on the Dremel, my results have not been nearly as good as I thought they would be.

We talked about using the cotton and felt wheels and cones in the past. I don't recall anyone saying anything about 'red'.

Well a little research and found out that you should use GREEN rouge for stainless steel. I really dont understand why the red rouge would have worked, only slower... since the red is meant for gold and soft metals.

My dremmel and mild abraisive cream which I use for stainless steel finishing on motorcycle parts made my brushed blackbird as good as the polished version. Like a mirror, you have to practice on other bits and peices before you commit to your treasured peice. Good luck you'll win in the end.
