I am a bit bemused with the variety and styles of springbars you can buy. Provided I choose the right width and the pegs fit in the lug holes, should I care about taper/shoulders etc? |

You should care about diameter - in the case of Breitling the strap spring bars are thicker than bracelet ones. In terms of shoulder style it's not hugely releavant for most watch / strap combos. |

You can't use strap bars for a bracelet, it will not fit. You can use bracelet bars with a strap, but you shouldn't because they are thinner and could damage your strap with long term usage. Strap bars are 1.8 diameter and bracelet bars are 1.5mm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

All of that is only true for OEM Breitling. There is no such thing as 'strap bars' or 'bracelet bars', just different sizes for different needs and in the case of Breitling straps they need 1.8mm and Breitling bracelets need 1.5mm. |

We know what I mean by "bracelet bars" Roff, but thanks for the clarification nonetheless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Your local AD will generally give you a spare set if you walk in and ask nicely. Unless you are in Annapolis, then they will try and charge you $25 for something that costs them pennies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd say it depends on how much time you're on a strap rather than a bracelet, how frequently you change and the number of straps you rotate. If you'd settle with one strap and keep that on always, I believe the right spring bar diameter could prolong your strap's life to some extent. If you change between bracelet and strap, and then between different straps from time to time, you're more likely to do the most part of the strap stress during the change making the spring bar diameter less relevant. |
