Arnold & Son have been around on my radar for a while, but in the last year or so they are really stepping up. They were acquired by Citizen two years ago and the investment that is now available to them is really being used effectively. Last year's 'time pyramid' is a great piece, the HMS1 is about the best value dress watch available and now with Basel approaching they announce the Dial Side True Beat - http://blog.perpetuelle.com/watches/arn ... true-beat/ I guess that they can't truly be referred to as an independent anymore, but this is a brand that deserves a lot of success - it's great to see a brand that is prepared to go its own way, and it's good to see ownership that allows them to. Oh, and Govbergs are an Arnold AD! |

They've always made some pretty nice pieces, but pieces like this Dial Side True Beat take them into a whole different realm. (And price range too). |

Amazing technical feat and pretty beautiful. But just to pick a nit - I really don't like the hands. They look cheap compared to everything else. |

That's a really awesome looking watch!! I've always been a fan of being able to see inner workings of a watch from the front dial. I think it's just a mental block for me in regards to the ticking second hand. I understand it's a technical feat, but a ticking mechanical watch that moves like a quartz just seems odd. To pay a lot of money so the second hand moves like a cheap quartz seems kinda funny. |

I could definitely get used to looking at that. However, I'm sure I can't afford it. |

I've been a fan of Arnold and Son for years. I've always thought they make some beautiful watches, and definitely out of my league price-wise. There's a good article in the current IW magazine too about the approach of the company to watchmaking and its direction, which makes sense - honoring its roots but doing so using modern technologies. I think the company has a bright future and will continue to make some very nice pieces. |

i was introduced to the brand a few years back in the Caribbean. at that point in time it really did nothing for me. have not been following the brand ever since. this piece posted does look very nice though. |
