SIHH is on this week so thought that we should at least capture the highlights. Perpetuelle always has a great summary of releases - http://blog.perpetuelle.com/category/sihh/ What do you like so far? For me the redone IWC Aquatimers are a nice evolution, the new VC range is spectacular if not for me, Panerai is starting to lose me with so many new watches that look the same (other than the 518 / 519 / 520) and I NEED the Richard Lange Perpetual. |

I like the new Reverso with the blue accents but since it's boutique only, I doubt I'll ever pick one up. I also like the new Aquatimer Automatics, the 42mm version with the modified movement. The new Aquatimer 2000 isn't bad, but it's too big for me along with the other in house Aquatimers. |

The Terraluna is just spectacular. What a piece to have in the collection. Even the display back looks phenomenal  I also like the 1815 Tourbillon from Lange, the JLC Duometre a Quantieme Lunaire Enamel (although I'm really not too sure about enamel watches), and the VC 14 day Toubillon openworked. At a more affordable price point, the IWC's all look nice. Some very nice pieces indeed this year. |

Lange are certainly mopping up there! Fantastic looking pieces. The new Panerai models are nicely inoffensive (which is part of what I like about them - they never really alienate their existing fans)... BUT, they also aren't overly spectacular either. Shame really, because most years Panerai always impresses me. I really like the new IWC Aquatimer auto - vintage style dial, in a more contemporary case. And I'm really liking the new Roger Dubuis models........ but then I am something of an RD fan! |

Yeah, the sizes went crazy, and the 2000 is 20mm thick,  . In-house movement models took the prices over $10k.The only reasonable sized one is the 42mm automatic. My concern is the bezel design takes up a lot of width and doesn't leave much for dial area (?). Good news is nothing so far that I gotta have,  .

There's just something about the JLC 1931s. Somehow they work even on my larger wrists. Great pieces, and the ultra-thins at 39mm and pretty much all dial are also a generous size for a true dress watch. The new 42mm Aquatimer is indeed very nice. Still, in the theoretical sense of course, I could add a good value piece like a Longines Legend Diver to my "old" 3536 Aquatimer and I'd have both old and new looks at a lot less cost. I guess, no I know, I'm a little conservative on watch tastes but the more tame (relatively) RDs continue to grab my attention. I doubt I'll ever own one, but I need to try some of these on the wrist. Something in the design just stands out. Panerai started out sufficiently different that they need not vary much to still stand out. On one hand, yes, they all have the same look and any variety-lover would be pressed to form a collection of them. On the other hand, the longer they stay the general course, the more attractive I think they are to be a part of a well-rounded collection. |

I've got to say, try as I might, year on year, I just cannot warm to either the JLC Ultra Thins or the Reversos. You couldn't pay me to wear either range............. and yet JLC also make some of the most incredible grail watches as well. The Duometre Unique Travel and the Duometre a Quantieme Lunaire Enamel... plus the more affordable older models like the Extreme W-Alarm. Just checked out AP's latest offerings. My god, the Royal Oak Offshore Grande Complication is absolutely stunning IMO. The Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Ceramic ain't bad either.... and will no doubt be less than 6 figures... so that's something!

Don't understand why you don't have more love for some of the Jaeger ranges Driver8 but no one's perfect. I had a duometre a chronographe on my wrist last week and it was absolutely incredible - although I would be tempted to wear it dial in just to see the movement through the caseback, that entire range is truly incredible. AP had some nice pieces for sure, but biggest news for them this week might be that they just won their court case against Swiss Watch International for trademark infringement in the Swiss Legend 'homage' Royal Oak - $10 million with more to come after costs are recovered. |

I think those Radiomir Chronographs are beautiful, especially the platinum version! |

The terraluna is a true beauty, I love the dial, and also that stunning caseback. I love the simplicity of the 1815 and the JLC ultra thin. ALS Duomètre Unique Travel Time is also a great looking watch. I like the PAM 560/564s, nice to see them move in-house and keeping the standard base and sub-seconds look. Still not a fan of VC's despite their complexity, and whilst the new Aquatimer is nice, I wouldn't buy one as I prefer the earlier aquatimers over the ones released in recent years. Whilst I still wouldn't buy one, Mont Blanc's range of watches continues to improve, and I think if they were released under any other brand name I'd warm to them more. |
