Just wondering what is typical for ADs to offer percentage wise when trading for a new watch? If your current watch is selling on Chrono24, eBay, etc for $6,000, what would be a really nice trade offer from an AD? $3,600 (60% of market and probably about 40% of retail)? Just wondering if it ever makes sense to do a trade-in or if you are always better off selling things yourself. Thanks.

You will get more for a personal sale any way you look at it, but at times it's just convenient to trade up. I've done it many times and if you have the watch box and papers you usually get a pretty good trade in value, depending on the model.

Thanks Matt. Can you be more specific about "pretty good"? I'm just wondering if 50% of market is typical and something like 60% and up is "really good."

60% is the high end of the scale, but again condition, age and wear all factor in. I've also noticed the values vary from store to store. The forum sponsors are great to work with and will try and help you out as much as possible.
