A few months ago, I acquired a gold Cartier Tank Solo. I always wanted a gold watch, and after much deliberating, it turned out to be the one. A while ago, I tried on the steel model with the steel bracelet, and couldn't get it out of my head. So, last weekend I got myself an early Christmas present.

Considered by many to be the "entry level" Cartier, the quality and finishing of this watch leave nothing to be desired.

This is the Large Model: water resistant to 30 meters / 100 feet. Case dimensions: 34.8x27.4 mm, 5.55 mm thick. Cartier Caliber 690 quartz movement

The Tank Solo is the second thinnest Cartier model. The Tank Louis Cartier at 5.1mm is the slimmest. The amazing thing to me is the steel bracelet. At less than 2.5mm thick, it is thinner than a lot of leather straps. With solid links, it feels very solid and durable. It also makes this watch the most comfortable I have ever worn.

I love the versatility that the steel bracelet gives the watch. I feel comfortable wearing it with any type of clothing, casual, dress casual or dressy. I would not hesitate, if I could have only one watch, to recommend this watch. The 20mm lug size, and the non-tapering bracelet gives the watch a very nice wrist presence. I never feel as though I am wearing a small watch. It's just right. And it fits under any cuff with ease.

The outside links of the bracelet are polished, as are the sides. They match the polished sides of the case. The center links are brushed and match the top and bottom of the case.

This is the fourth Cartier I have owned. I still have a gold Tank Solo as well. Dare I say that overall I prefer this to the gold model? Time will tell...

Thanks for checking out my thread,
Carl

I believe (and always have) that its one of the best looking "dress" watches out there. At least that's the type of occasions I'd wear it for if I owned one. Great looking!

Congratulations Carl. A friend of mine is in love with Tanks but has so far only been brave enough to go as far as a Rotary 'homage' - I may need to show him this thread :-)
