Hi Everyone
Today has been very interesting for me and the other students. First when we arrived at school we had a introduction into our
second year with a lecture about time and the science around it, After we then each got our first lot of second year tools which contained a lot of tools so we set about organising our benches as we already had a lot of tools from the first year.
So we checked everything was all present and correct. Then we received another bag with more tools that also needed organising so we could efficiently find the tools when we needed them. After this our teacher quickly got us into the first part of the second year this was manipulation and getting our fingers warmed up and ready so he presented us with ten incabloc then showed us how to disassemble and reassemble but before he showed us a very very important step that is sometimes forgotten by watchmakers that can cause a lot of damage and this was to sharpen our tweezers the they had a matt finish this is important because when the tweezers are used for a long time they burnish and helps ping parts around the room. So we sharpened them then set about disassembling them and reassembling thankfully I didn't loose any parts and got them back together we had to do this about four times on each incabloc. Then we also had to hold two cap jewel in tweezers in each hand and rotate them with out dropping the jewel out this was to help us keep the same amount of pressure on the tweezers. We started at 9 and finished at 7 so it was very intensive sat at the bench. We will be getting our white lab coats soon just had to be measured up and sent of for the logo putting on them.
Tomorrow we do lots of screwdriver sharpening we have 24 screwdrivers to sharpen and more incabloc practice but it looks to be a interesting few months as we are also trying to get our gear train exam finished before christmas break.
