Post subject:  WorldTimers
I'm on a quest to find a WorldTimer and wanted to ask the forum their thoughts on the subject. Some, like the VC WorldTimer are just phenomenal but way out of my price range. Others, like the JLC Master World Geographic, and IWC WorldTimer I'd like to acquire in another few years. Any thoughts / experiences on the more affordable WorldTimers listed below (sorry that I didn't include pictures)?

1. Alpina WorldTimer Manufacture;
2. Frederique Constant Classics Manufacture World Timer;
3. Ernst benz ChronoFlite World Timer;
4. Bremont Alt1 World Timer;
5. Ball Trainmaster Worldtime Chronograph;
6. Manjaz Engineer Series.

Any that I've missed? I'm generally looking at something under $5,000 retail.

Thanks Dacha, A couple of really nice looking pieces there I'll have to keep my eyes out for. I hesitate on the modern Breitling's due to their size. I can't wear anything over 44-45mm at the most.

So no one else has any ideas about WorldTimers or opinions/experiences on the actual brands below?

Not a huge range of options under $5k, of your list I would likely go for the FC, but the Ball and Bremont would be tempting alternatives.

That's what I've already figured out, understandably I guess given the complication. Thanks for the advice. I may as well just hang out and go for the JLC.

Any GMT's that come to mind? I'm looking for something a little more classic looking to round out the collection.

JLC is a good bet.

Not exactly classic, but the Zenith Montre D’Aéronef Type 20 GMT is a nice looking GMT if you can carry off the 48mm size or for something off your radar the Muhle Glashutte Seebataillon GMT. Classic GMTs, well Rolex of course......

I also like the Ulysse Nardin system, with a permanent "home time" indicator and chrono-like pushers for quick adjustment of the hour showing on the dial. At your range these would be in the pre-owned market.

Personally I'm quite partial to the Alpina Worldtimer myself. I really like Alpina in general and their manufacture movements are very keenly priced for what they are IMO.

Tim - I don't have any suggestions for ya but I'll share my favorite World Timer and the favorite watch I've own; I wish I was able to have kept this one last year :(

Interesting Driver. I'd never really paid much attention to Alpina until I came across the WT. So you think it's potentially a higher quality watch than the FC?

Agreed. I just haven't been able to pull the trigger yet on a Bremont. Something about the cost just gets me.

Not necessarily higher quality than FC, because as Sharkman rightly said, FC own Alpina, but they do make very nice quality watches. I just happen to like the look of Alpina's Aviation range, and especially the Worldtimer, plus their in-house movements are very reasonably priced IMO.
