The new Omega anti-magnetic AT is now officially for sale. The first one in Canada appeared at the Omega Boutique this week. I'm glad that I went down to see it today, as they sold it shortly after I left.

Managed to get a few decent wrist shots. It really looks quite different in real life, perhaps a bit "blingy" even, for want of a better expression. Apparently, the black dial has had some treatment with yellow, which gives it an almost dark brown or anthracite hue. And a bit of a suburst effect as well. The bracelet has PCLs (polished centre lnks), and the markers are apparently diamond polished and are even shinier than those of the other AT models. IMO the dial is a bit "busy", especially for a chronometer with only a date function. One of those love it or hate it things.

MSRP $6600CAD, regular AT ss model $5500.

One of my current favourites, the Bullhead reissue was on display. Not usually a fan of white dials, I think this one is amazing. Almost looks like a real retro vintage to me, one of the best Omega has done IMO:

They aren't exactly giving this one away, either at around 9 grand (can't remember exact price) but it certainly is unique. I don't think there was ever another watch like it.

One of my favourites is the new '57 Speedy reissue, with 9300 movement. At only 41.5mm, it really is about as small a case as that can fit that movement, one thing I really appreciate about certain watches. The regular Speedy 9300, for example is 44.5mm, although it does wear smaller to me and is very comfortable.
The '57 Reissue 9300, in TT stainless/red gold: (sorry I didn't do a better job of capturing the red gold bezel, push pins and crown)

There is also the Speedy Ceramic 9300 (all ceramic including case, pusher pins and crown):

All-in-all a wonderful Boutique visit. Thanks to Sasan and the others there who always make me feel more like a friend than a client! If it was not for them, I would really have nobody here to discuss watches with!

Cheers,
Carl

Love it all except that bumble bee second hand. I would really like to get my hands on that ceramic speedy to check out in person. The bullhead is also extremely cool. Thanks for taking the time to share your visit!

I fell in love with the '57 Speedie when I saw it online and that has never happened with other Speedmaster offerings. I love the straight lugs and I guess...flatter looking case, which makes it a bit more modern for me.

Also would love to see the all ceramic model. Great trip

Good to see the Bullhead Seamaster making it into shops after seeing it in the Basel releases. $9k is a serious wedge though. :?

I love that ceramic Speedie as well, although I bet the price on that one couldn't exactly be described as a "bargain". Omega really are doing some good things these days. (Just a shame that prices are where they are).

Bullhead looks great (Breitling are you listening), not sure about the yellow and black seconds hand on the 15,0000 gauss as others have said. Love the idea of all ceramic, I guess you need to handle it to really appreciate it.

Great shots as ever, thanks Carl. I love the 'milgauss' concept but prefer Rolex's offering to that one (the only Rolex I like really). The Bullhead and the Speedy are stunning. I wish Breitling would break the bank to get Omega's head of design - not to steal their designs, but to get someone so obviously good at imaginative mutations of classic models.

Just had a thought - that $9K for the Bullhead is a ridiculous price considering it's running the 3113 movement and not the inhouse 9300......

Great looking watch, but the price/movement combo would stop me from remotely entertaining it. That movement with a lower price, or that price with a 9300, then maybe (because it IS very cool), but as it is? No thanks.

True dat. You sense that to an extreme degree Omega are charging what they think the market will bear.

Very nice overall. I know they are proud of the new anti-magnetic features and want to make mention of it. BUT, I think it would be much nicer to just incorporate the technology without marking the dial up and adding weird yellow spots. I think I would stick with my grey version even if the two were priced the same. As to the others, well, that ceramic speedie is pretty darn sharp looking!

Update: I noticed my AT was running about 15 minutes fast this morning. I've never noticed anything like this with this watch before so I was really hoping for it to just be magnetized with a quick fix. I took it to my local guy and BOOM magnetized! It took him a whole five seconds, and then since I was there, I had him take a link out as well. Maybe there is something to that 15,000 that would suit me!

hey great pics Carl. That AT looks pretty sharp. not too sure about the yellow highlights i think i would have to see it in the metal to make a judgement call.

just curious is the boutique associated with Lugaro?

Really interesting looking watches and innovative technology.

I saw an interview with Stephen Urquhart (Omega CEO) where he said the Aqua Terra 8508 is kind of "testing the water" with regards to the movement and they plan to expand it into most of their mechanical watches in the not-so-distant future.

The yellow highlights are a bit much for me as well. Actually, I found the aesthetics of the entire watch quite unappealing, although different than in the online photos I saw. I tried to explain the dial, then found this on the Omega website, which I quote, and explains it a lot better:
"It has a slightly yellowed lacquered black dial, sun-brushed from the centre and decorated with the distinctive vertical lines that define OMEGA’s popular Aqua Terra collection." It does give it kind of a dark brown or anthracite hue.

The boutique is an official Omega Boutique, but no affilation to any AD.

Cheers,
Carl

Carl,

Do you recall the size of this watch? 41.5 or 38.5 ( or different size)? Thanks
