How do you guys store your watches with leather bands on them? Do you mount them on a pillow and put them in a box or lay them out flat? Will mounting them cause them to wear prematurely?

Mine usually sleep in the sock drawer, only use cushions and cases for bracelets. Daily wearers lie flat on a lens cloth on the bedside cabinet. I can't imagine that astrap would suffer premature wear if kept on a cushion.

I 'roll' it on the cushion, but not through the buckle if that makes sense. The only thing you want to watch for is mold growing on the leather -- which can spread to other straps in the box. That's why I rotate through most of my straps every couple of months or so, and if neccesary apply a thin coat of mink oil (which is actually a paste).

Ditto, ie helping to bend the leather but not wearing out the hole/s.

I found that it helps to break a (Breitling) strap in to keep it rolled around the cushion, as opposed to just lying it flat, esp if it's in a rotation.

I usually keep mine on a pillow but if I leave them loose they don't sit right and it's kind of a pain because I can't shut my case.. Maybe I will get another storage case with drawers for my leather straps mounted on watches. Just wanted to get a couple points of view.
Although all I had to do was search leather storage and I would have found my answers. Oh well less social that way.

I keep my watches (those of bracelets and straps) in winders, so that means they are on the winder pillow and buckled up. I've never really given a thought to the potential for additional wear as I see straps as consumables anyway.

My active rotation non winder mounted pieces just sit resting on the strap if they are tang or crown up if they are on deployant. Really don't see any additional wear unless the strap is stretched really tight over a pillow.

I throw mine on the nightstand in various ways and never had an issue

Leather straps?
Just let them rest wherever they fall.
Consumable items after all .

Nicely said Wessa, very poetic! Yeah I will just stop thinking about it so much and just lay them down, much less stress on them and I switch out my watches frequently enough to keep them all wound. Thanks guys!

OK, never intended it to be so poetic.
It just happens to be so pathetic.
I frequently swap between straps and bracelets
The steel ones get looked after and the leather ones.... Oh, it's not gonna rhyme, never mind.
You get the gist ;-)

Mould growing on the leather,
South east Asia, such a terrible weather.
Leather straps suffer so much,
In this humid climate bracelets are a must.

All my leather band breitlings along with stainless are on pillows in my winder, I find the pillow definately helps break the leather bands in and gives them a nice form to wrap my wrist.

There once was a WIS from Hong Kong,
Whose opinions on watch straps were strong,
"Let them rest where they fall,
They're consumed after all",
He said when MattC came along.
