Post subject:  A Sub for the Sub?
So I am getting closer and closer to purchasing the Sub c. I have seen plenty of pictures and reviews on here that have made me want this watch pretty badly. I have tried it on several times and it fits me like a glove. I am not really using my ATV anymore, so I'm thinking that I can sell that and the trailer, and put the funds towards the Rolex. So here is my question, is there anything else I should consider? I do like the Planet Ocean, but would rather have the Sub. I know I haven't given a lot of criteria as to my tastes, so I guess I just wanted somewhat comporably priced and styled pieces. Any thoughts are helpful. Thanks!

IMO there is no watch that competes with the subc dollar to dollar. It is the perfect all around sports watch. The only other option might be a gmt 2c

I'd consider the GMTIIc and maybe even the Explorer 2. In the end, I think you'll end up with the Sub anyway.

I really like the planet ocean a lot but I would never sell my two tone sub. Love it best watch ive ever owned.

:yeahthat I totally agree with what Boogie said. I have a mongo wrist, and it still fits perfectly, and appropriate for any occasion. You will not regret it at all. I just picked up a PO XL 8500, and although I love it, it's still not the Sub.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I really do love the Sub, but to be honest, I'm not so crazy about the price. Once I get past that, and try to somehow justify the cost, I will probably make my move.... So, anyone wanna buy an ATV?? :lol: I will keep you updated.

The key I get from your post is "fits me like a glove". In my experience, that's what will keep you happy after the novelty of buying the watch passes.

The reason I haven't yet owned a PO is because the PO is pretty thick for its otherwise streamlined design. The new bracelet helps make the sub, though I still miss my old Pepsi (or black or coke, that's the genius of it) GMT, weak bracelet and all. My personal favorite diver of the moment, which I own, is the IWC 3536 Aquatimer (Not the new style, the older style). I'd suggest taking a long look at the GMT but you just can't go wrong with the sub.

The cost can be offset a little if you buy lightly preowned. If you do some research, there are some very reputable resellers out there who come into near-mint or mint pieces. That can save you some significant money over walking into the store. Good luck.

Go for it.. It's a great watch you could wear every day. I love my PO also. The legibility is much better than the sub due do the AR coating, better lume, matte dial, and lack of cyclops, but I still wear the sub almost every day do to it's size and comfort. As mentioned above, the bracelet is great and the clasp is adjustable on the fly, which comes on handy more often than you'd think.

Right. In wish I could combine some features of the PO and some of the Sub for one ultimate diver.

Both great watches, but go with the Sub ceramic. As Scott mentioned earlier, they pop up on the preowned forums at a slightly lower price, usually below 7k. You won't be disappointed. :D
