Why are these model significantly less than the standard PAMs?

Brand images, incompatible couple, shotgun wedding, overpriced for the product, terrible demand, and finally a divorce. In short, making a Ferrari branded Panerai for most Panerai enthusiasts was equivalent to making Breitling's with rubber bezels to most Breitling enthusiasts.

I think they found a much better match with Hublot.

I remember once trying on a Ferrari Panerai that my then AD had taken in as a trade..... and it was actually a very nicely put together watch. There were some very nice touches on it, and all in all it was pretty good looking watch. The only problem was the STOOOOOPID Ferrari branding all over it!

For some reason the Ferrari/Panerai association just never worked as well as the Breitling/Bentley one.

Unless you really REALLY love the look of the Ferrari Panerai models, steer clear like the plague.

Yup, other than they were both of Italian origin, there is nothing remotely compatible between the two brands.

Unless you drive a Ferrari, or like throwing money down the drain, avoid!

These car company collabos are always a hit or miss. But AFAIK the Ferrari PAMs do not do well.

Switching brands probably did not help them either. Girard Perregaux did Ferrari watches before, with slightly more discreet designs.

Exactly! Would make sense to wear one if you drive a Ferrari.

Same applies to the Breitling for Bentley watches. Ooops! What? What did I say? Wasn't me!

In my personal opinion and as a guy who does not presently own B4B, that's not a fair comparison. The "Breitling for Bentley" is discreet on the dial and not a walking, flashy suggestion the wearer has a Ferrari in the garage, while the Panerai Ferrari does just the opposite -







Someone who can afford the latter likely doesn't have a Ferrari and really doesn't want to walk around with a not so subtle indication that he does.

And as someone who DOES currently own two B4B's (and doesn't drive a Bentley), I heartly agree with Shark on this.

The "For Bentley" wording is very subtle (on a not overly subtle set of watches!), so to me it's neither here nor there whether they are perceived as having a Bentley association or not.

Bentley is undeniably more subtle and understated than Ferrari, I'll give you that. Not 100 % sure that the same philosophy applies when it comes to the B4B watch. A matter of taste I guess. Give me time, I'm new to the brand...

Yeah, nothing subtle and understated about a Complications 19 is there

People who buy a PAM are usually "in the know" and love having that little something special. The Ferrari aspect completely goes the opposite direction and turns the brand into a sort of too common "Rolex type"...(nothing wrong with that, since my Rollie is on my wrist as I type this). Just two different animals...
