Hello everyone,

I know that many of have been wondering what a given watch goes through when getting its royal bad ass custom DLC coating. Yes, Breitling have been offering many models with a factory DLC coating prea-applied, and let me tell you; it is superb to any, and i mean it ANY brand on the market that is currently offering precoated DLC watch models. On the other hand, there are many watch owners who have had their SS watches for sometime already and they all really want to bring the excitement back when glancing at their watches. Apparently the DLC coating have proven to getting the bad ass feeling into any boring/ordinary looking watch.

Enough with the talking... Enjoy the pics

I'm guessing, I could be wrong, that this falls into the category of...politely stated, a "public service announcement."

Turned out great. It was a great decision to get it bead blasted. I don't like the looked of shiny dlc.

You're absolutely right, Sharkman (especially after looking up the user-profile). Still, the pictures are nice, so until an unauthorised signature link appears, we'll give the benefit of the doubt. :wink:

I must be honest I actually like the look of the blue dial with the black case, but (unless it's fluff) it looks like there's a couple of missed bits on the bracelet. But that's the problem with aftermarket DLC-ing bracelets as you can't dismantle ever single link. Still a pretty good job for an aftermarket piece though.

Yeah, not worth ruining warranty over, but better than some. Will continue to monitor until the sales pitch comes......

I think the commercial works better if you run it on rewind... potentially a large market out there for any company that can go from DLC to shiny steel!

@Driver8
Hi there... you will never see any external links in my signature unless a proper authorization has been granted. I consider this to be extremely rude and ignorant compared to braking and entering.

Back on the project... there were two options for finishing the case and it was chosen the easier one - beadblasting. The other option was to incorporate a 3 way finish on this baby. Beadblasted bezel, satin finished case, bracelet, polished deployant clasp and caseback. It may sound odd and not everyone's cup of tea, but in fact look really good. Unfortunately no pictures were taken from it so to have them posted up here...

P.S. it is dust what you see on the pics, regardless of the heavy blowing it was done before every picture. Damn it, that didnt sound down right at all!! :)

@Dr J
Thats easy, real easy and the best part is that DLC does not get stripped off mechanically but chemically so this way the it is not messed around with the integrity of the watch.

There are lots of DLC companies who specialize like this. Can't recall the one that specializes in Rolex, but every time I see one it makes me a wee bit angry. Not passing at all on DLC Lings - we've come to expect it from Breitling and are used to it, but not Rolex...

You would be surprised to know that Rolex is the #1 brand that has been receiving DLC coating treatment since the coating been introduced to the world of watch making. The same thing applies when it comes down to the after market modifications done on the dials, sundials, bezel indexes, etc. Some of the aftermarket modders go to such extrames that at the end you start believing that Rolex have manufactured the model that way; the modding was so nicely done that it can twist your mind.

Here is one great example of what i am talking about. Unique is the only way it could be described.

Tom, I think it's called "black-out" or something like that, that specializes in Rolex. I remember seeing their ad with Stallone wearing a blacked out Daytona...... :|

Well whoever did your DLC job did a very nice job, I like it very much. I think a black dial aerospace with a smooth dial, would look awesome DLC'd.

Indeed whoever did it, had done an awesome job, I agree ;) BUT a yellow dialed Seawolf and/or White dialed SA would really make it POP big time...
