So I posted my new PO on here when I bought it a few weeks ago. Well I got home last night after a few days out of town, and went to put it on. Since it had powered down, I wound it and began to set the time/date. Well something starts happening with the hour hand and it clicks a half hour, then goes backward, then just swings freely......ughhh. I really like this watch and I know the new movements have a pretty good reputation. But she will go back to the AD today to get sent off for a repair. It's nice knowing there's a four year warranty, but to use it so soon is frustrating. Anyone else have heard of or had issues with the 8500 movement? :?

That sucks, I just sent my PO chrono to omega to send out, I have the last model chronograph with the 3 sub dials, a couple years old, it just stopped running when I wound it 40 times it ran for about 20 minutes and stopped and I always keep it on the winder. They said around $700 for full service and 8-10 weeks until its back from Switzerland, I bought it on eBay a couple years ago suppose to be new had box but no papers, hopefully it all turns out good.

Sorry to hear about your woes. As with any mechanical engine with such fine tolerances as within a mechanical watch, there is always the chance of a problem occurring with a small number of movements over time. Fortunately the 8500 isn't renowned as been a "glitchy" movement at all, so I believe that issues are fairly rare. Obviously that doesn't help you now, but AFAIK the 8500 is pretty hardy, so hopefully once it's fixed you should be fine.

I'm really bummed to hear about your issue. I do hope your PO movement doesn't turn out to be a lemon like my Chronomat 01 movement. This is personally the first I've heard about an issue with the 8500, but as I don't frequent Omega forums, this really isn't saying much.

That is bad news indeed Don!
I hope it is just a minor glitch and it will be sorted out in no time for you.
The PO is a lovely watch that I hope to add to my collection one day.

Just got it back in record time, and it's working perfectly. Must have been a minor fix, but it's running about -2 secs per day and looking great. :D
