i have a problem here, i am going for a different brand for 2013 aquisition, and i have 2 options, the omega planet ocean chrono 9300 black dial, or the tag grand carrera 17 rs2, not a huge fan of tag but that rs2 does look great and its a good deal, but i have been saving for some time now whit the omega in my head all the way, since i sold my older Planet ocean to buy the new whit the in house omega movement

its such a good price for the tag that made me think

here are the options
1.omega planet ocean chrono 9300 black dial

2-tag grand carrera 17 rs2

what do you guys think

Omega, no contest for me. Just think Omega has the pedigree; and the finish on the Tag looks a bit tacky to me, albeit just from that photo.

Omega. I'm not a fan of tag overall, but that one looks very nice in person and they have made some much nicer watches recently. I've been tempted by that same tag a couple times now.

I am not an Omega fan but seems like the choice between the 2 is obvious - Omega of course... The Tag does look very nice but I prefer a design with identity to the brand... The planet ocean is more classic to me and very obviously "Omega style", therefore it looks more timeless IMO while for Tag, it doesn't really have that classic look and seems more like a fashion watch. In the first place, u are comparing a luxury brand to a "transition tier" brand so most people will raise their hands for Omega before even looking at the actual watch.

wow, i guess there is no contest here, omega all the way for the watch purists and lovers, actually omega was in my head all the time, and i believe i wont regreat that, loved my first planet ocean. and this new line of planet ocean is a sucessfull step for omega whit a inhouse movement, usage of ceramic materials and a solid great quality overall piece, also love the fact that the anti glare coat doesnt show bluish reflections, something that really get on my nerves .

tired of having the people asking, is that watch dial is blue right?

this tag might be good looking but lack in quality here and there i think

dont know anything about caliber 17 or tag machines in terms of quality or reliability, but looks a bit cheap next to omega or other breitlings.

spending big bucks in a "good looking watch" only is not a option for me, it needs to be good and reliable also

The Omega has class, refinement and understatement, which is hard to find in a modern chrono.

The Tag is quite the opposite, if I'm blunt. Nothing against the brand, they have very nice models, but this GC 17 rs2 doesn't strike me as particularly good looking, sorry.

Have you thought about the Super Ocean Heritage 44 chrono (ref a2335024)?

i actually like that one, very similar in terms of dial and bezel, but the omega is so more sporty look than the heritage

Just saw the Tag yesterday... Actual thing doesn't look nice and seems going out of style... So you shouldn't have any regrets going for Omega.
