On the weekend I stopped in at the local Omega AD and tried on the Planet Ocean Seamaster with the 9300 movement 45mm. I have never really been that hot on Omega but after I tried it on with the rubber band ( I like the croc better) I was pretty impressed. Although its a 45mm and I tend to think of myself as a smaller wrist guy I was pleasantly surprised how nice it fit me. I liked the weight of it, not too heavy but not light and I liked how thick the case was. It reminded me of my Rolex Sub with a bit more heft.

I didn't find the price to be too crazy (8,000 USD) and after going home and looking I found some online for around 6,000 USD. The watch really looked like it was put together quite nicely and the fact it is an in house movement I found to be quite nice.

Anyone else have any input on this watch? I may add this to my short list.

Its an awesome watch and I love the look but a little too thick for me as well. I've tried it on many times trying to convince myself it is ok but I just can't quite get over the thickness of it. If you can pull off the size I say go for it!

The original PO with 2500 movement is a bit thinner. Something to consider if you are not married to the in house movement and actually want it thinner. Either way great looking watch and wears smaller than the 45mm might suggest. I like all the various looks of all POs.

Pretty, especially the blue Ti version, but way too big for my taste. Too large in diameter and, chiefly, too thick. I finally preferred the SMP 300, which for my taste has a stronger design and which left me with enough cash to spare for what eventually became my latest Omega purchase.

Really nice watch, well finished and constructed, but you need to like thick watches. I've got the non-chrono version, which is still thick but wears well on my relatively small wrist despite its size.

I had the 9300 POC and sold it because it was too thick. Then a few months later I bought another one because it was such a hot watch and I thought that I could live with the thickness. I got my 2nd one, and guess what? It was still too GD thick so I sold that one too. The watch is really great looking except it's so freakin thick that it ruined it for me. Omega PLEASE do something about that!

What is 'too thick' in these cases gents? The Omega website (exasperatingly) doesn't specify thickness.

It sticks out from ones wrist too much... One could call it "too high" as well.

Depends, the "sveltest" PO, with the 2500 movement is 14.5mm, which is already rather on the thick side. The 9300 chronograph in turn is 18.5mm. As near as makes no difference to 2cm protruding from one's wrist. When one keeps in mind that an SMP is only 11mm in height, that's just plain enormous.

I have the former 3313 caliber chrono Planet Ocean and have been trying to deicde if I want to upgrade to the 9300 or not. As far as the thickness, it's not much thicker than my Super Avenger Blacksteel.

Like what many have said, the thickness cools me off a little bit, along with the new pricepoint. But, not enough to stop me from waiting to see their new PO GMT. I'm excited to see it in person!
