I will be attending a Black Tie event and am torturing myself about wearing either the steel bracelet or the blue leather band. My last Black Tie was at least 7 years ago and I know trends have changed. I think the watch with the steel band is just awesome but wonder if too flashy for Black Tie and if the blue leather mutes the watch and makes it dressier. But as hard as I try I want to wear the steel bracelet. Any comments form those who have attended a Black Tie event? :lingsrock: :D

I think the blue would clash with the black. The bracelet is a much better compliment IMO.

I know alot of womens fashion magazines deal with stuff like this all the time. Have you tried looking there? Come on, Son! :poke:

Steel is the only reasonable choice here. It's not a blue tie dinner after all. Clashing colors are worse than flashy metal... Or so I'm told by all the women's magazines in our dentist's waiting lobby.

If it were me i would probably go without a watch. Traditionally watches of with muted styles and thin profiles are worn with a tux, but this had changed some in recent years. That being said, the SA is about as far from subtle and muted as can get so I think it would take away from the rest of your attire.

Black tie and Super Avenger are not a good look in my opinion. Agree with thomasenlow1 it would lower the overall look quite a lot.

:yeahthat

SA at a black tie event seems a bit off. the watch itself is more casual than black tie. When i think black tie i picture more something like the JLC reverso

Does the op have any other choices, or is the SA his only choice? If it were me it would be the SA as opposed to nothing. I don't feel right without a watch on, as I'm sure most of us could agree.

Yeah I respectfully disagree that the SA would be a good match with black tie attire. Usually the default watch is supposed to be extremely subdued. Like a Reverso as Thomas stated or a simple, thin two/three hander.

If I were wearing my SA to a black tie event, I don't think it would be the watch everyone would be staring at. Maybe the wrong guy is giving you advice here lol.
Hope you can figure something out buddy. I hate not wearing a watch.

Given a choice between an SA and nothing at a black tie event, I would go nothing.

You have to work with what you've got. :lingsrock:

SA is perfect Black Tie watch, in a Daniel Craig sort of way. I have no problems with this. Blue face, equally not a problem. Stainless would be best though in this combination, as blue would be more of a distraction and stand out. Blue leather will be more noticeable than stainless. Believe it if you can……….
