Just thought i'd post this as incase any first time buyers didnt know about it although i'm sure everyone does. I pick up my Super Avenger tomorrow from Beaverbrooks and to insure it through them would cost £300 per year, so I called my home contents provider for a quote, as the watch is so expensive it has to be declared seperately as a personal item in yor home, Anyway for full cover inside and outside the house I got it for £82 per year making a saving of £218 per year. Not a bad little saving

There are quite a few threads on insurance. Seems to be a lot of variation from country to country and company to company. I don't think that many people use an AD arranged policy, just home and contents or specialists like Jewellers Mutual.

Yeah, only reason I posted is incase anybody from Uk was buying a watch and maybe not aware about putting it in home contents as it will save them a lot of money

I think in the USA home/renters insurance covers up to 5k for an individual item, or at least from what I've seen. If you've got some nice diamonds >100k or art it makes sense although its super expensive otherwise its so much it might just be cheaper to claim to 5k (they will prob argue its less to replace anyway).

Yes, regular homeowners insurance covers most personal goods, but some do not cover jewelry. You can get insurance for high value items, but you have to get what I think is called "scheduled" insurance for particular items or gorups of items. It is not very expensive. I have it on all my watches and it covers loss, theft, damage, etc. Call your agent.

Insurance companies often group certain kinds of things into categories - and sometimes assign maximum amounts that can be paid to replace all of the items or even single items in the category. A common item in a category covered by your policy, such as a watch, may be worth $25 or $5,000. Because this category can vary so greatly in value, your policy may set a per item limit.
