We have had quite a drawn out discussion about Breitling's claim of "The best chronograph movement in the world" in this thread:

I was watching National Geographic this evening and saw Omega's commercial which finished off with:
"Omega Co-axial, the most perfect mechanical watch movement in the world."

A powerfull statement to make but no "End of discussion" though ;-)

Another case of marketing hyperbole gone wild! Clearly the coaxial escapement is a step forward from the traditional escapement, but it takes very large ones to extrapolate that to 'the most perfect mechanical watch movement in the world' while maintaining a straight face.

Agreed on the hyperbole, and interesting I think as to Omega. I have heard and read some in the past about how some watchmakers are critical of the co-axial design and consider it more a marketing ploy of sorts. I know that my own "watchmaker" is not a fan of it and I have read a couple of technical articles questioning it. On one hand I hear nothing but good stories about the accuracy of the 8500 movement in particular. On the other, the basic eta engine on which the movements are based can be regulated as tightly as any. They had growing pains as well with the first co-axials, but appear to have gotten over them. Hopefully the same will happen with the B01.

I think anyone who claims 'Best in World' deserve the sort of commentry it is getting here. Anyone reading or hearing the term 'Best' need to think about what 'Best' actually means. What was the criteria usd to determine 'Best'? Was it to someones opinion or to a recognisable standard that this is based on?

Their most recent offerings are a bit short of the mark IMO. They still can't beat there own 1960"s Speedie.
