So if you had to choose, for a day to day watch within the 5k range, between an Oyster Perpetual and a Speedmaster Moonwatch, which one would it be?

The Speedmaster is an absolute legend and a great watch, but with the hesalite crystal and the daily winding... Not the easiest to throw on and forget about.

The Oyster is an icon in its own right, an automatic, has a sapphire crystal, but is 36mm in diameter and probably has a bit less of a vibrant personality than the Omega.

I realize that once the day comes, I'll have to decide for myself according to my mood of the day... But I do wonder, which one would you guys and gals go for if presented with the choice. Or would you chose something entirely different?

as a daily wearer - after maybe a week or so - you'll find that winding your watch becomes so "natural" that you might often wind it without really noticing it, not a real issue irl.

yes, the Hesalite scratches quite easily - but polishing out a small scratch with Polywatch is done in a minute.

for me: no contest, Speedmaster.

Speedy. Better size. More versatility. Still quite subtle on the wrist. Downside - no date (one if my pet peeves) on most models.

Another vote for the speedy, just a true classic, despite the lack of a date window. It's on my very short list!

I don't love that speedy but I like it better than the Rolex. If you really want a Speedmaster, the sapphire sandwich or the 9300 are nicer in my opinion.

Depends on the variation of the Oyster, of which there are literally hundreds. Still small but in the right color/bezel combo can wear larger. Also a date and the self-wind. The TT with champagne tapestry dial and gold indices I test-drove a couple months ago I would take in a heartbeat.

Still, if any worries about size, probably the Speedmaster. If it's your one watch for everyday wear, I suspect winding it would become second nature.

I like winding my watches... especially the manuals. Used to have a vintage Mark II and it was a pleasure to own it. Nice hunk of metal on the wrist too.

My vote.... Speedy.

Another vote for the Speedie. Almost disappointingly one-sided this...
