Just wondering if anyone knows Omega watches on this forum, looking at buying this watch and was wondering your opinions on the authenticity of the watch,
Thanks,
Jeff

The seller says that the model is 2254.50 but Iv been looking at that model number and I thought the face was completely different. I thought the model 2254.50 looked like this, I don't know much about Omega watches so hopefully someone can help me out.

This pic could be newer model of that number but I'm not 100%, is it a watch dealer selling it or a personal sale

Yeah it might be that, I was looking at the 90's model of the watch and it looks a lot more similar. It's a personal sale but he's selling it kind of cheap so I thought something might be fishy.

The photos in your original post are definitely not a 2254.50, if it helps.

That's not a 2254.50. That alone would be ringing alarm bells for me. There are some very good Seamaster fakes out there. Here you have a seller who (on the most charitable interpretation possible) doesn't know what he is selling and presumably has no papers to go with it.

A 2254 should have a Speedmaster type bracelet. The one you posted has a Bond style.

Yep. Should also have baton-style markers not round dots, a black bezel insert and sword hands instead of skeleton hands.

I think he might have mistyped the model reference number or something because I believe I found the correct watch on the Omega website, tell me what you think.

Not exactly the same: the first watch has 'Chronometer' on the dial but your Omega-website one doesn't.

I believe I found the exact model 2532.80, I really wish I knew Omega well. It's so hard to tell if this watch is authentic or not.

That would be quite a typo, getting 4 of the 6 digits wrong and miraculously winding up with the reference of one of the more iconic and collectible Seamaster models.

I wouldn't buy a high-value item from someone who couldn't even describe it correctly. There's no shortage of used Seamasters out there, you don't have to take risks.

Since I just happened to have it on, here's what the bracelet of the 2254.50 should look like. Mind you, the head in my picture is no 2254.50 but a newer ceramic model on which I had the older bracelet mounted.

In original picture, it should be a 2532.80, but it looks rather wonky. The bracelet seems awkward and the outer bezel ought to be sharper if it was in good condition at least. Fake or not? Hard to tell, but in any case it's in poor condition.
