Waaaah! How did that happen??? I think I'm healed... :S No, seriously, I woke up the other day and did feel neither the urge to enlarge my watch collection, nor the ever so present thought about what watch to purchase next. I thought I must've still been dreaming, so I pinched myself repeatedly... But to no avail. Desperate, I ran into the study and consulted the latest Chronolog: nothing... no desire at all. The watch most appealing to me was the one I'm wearing on my wrist as I type this, my trusty Navi. Well, perhaps the Rolex catalog would help. But again, nothing but my GMT II C really hit the sweet spot when I flipped through the pages. This could impossibly be real. Next thing I know, I was speeding towards Bahnhofstrasse. Surely, the glittery shop windows of the city center's various ADs, holding the pieces between my hands, feeling them around my wrist... All that would necessarily reestablish the lusting I had felt ever since I started collecting watches... It had to... For what else could? I went to the brand new IWC store first... I don't have an IWC, so if anything would have made me want to enlarge my collection, it would have been an IWC... After all, how could I not need an IWC, right? Wrong. Although I rather liked the new St. Exupery pilot chrono, no buying urge ensued. So I went to the JLC AD, played around with a Seals diver and master control chrono, just to decide I didn't like either one. Off to the Breitling AD then, where I found out I really like the TO Unitime with the silver dial... But don't want to have one (too large). Same at the Rolex boutique with the 42mm Expy II... Nice, but I don't like the overly large hands enough to spend any money on them. This was beginning to become really scary for an admitted addict... And not even Felix Baumagartner's energydrink infused PR Stunt could fix it by making the Zenith Stratos any droolwothier than it was when I decided it was just not for me... Exhausted and desperate... I sat down near the lake and quite awkwardly... I suddenly felt extremely satisfied. It came to me that I'm most lucky to have a collection of watches which I really love and that literally leave me wanting for nothing more. As an all too often restless mind found its peace, I was happy. And I think... I really am healed! Disclaimer: please read with a bit of second degree humor, though it would undoubtedly have looked rather funny, I did not actually run through the streets, yelling and screaming in despair, between the various AD visits I conducted over the last weeks ![]() |

Really?? Not even the new stuff from the Ingenieur line? Some of them are so sublime. |

The only Genta pieces that actually do are the usual suspects from AP and Patek... But 25k, with me just starting out in life, seems a bit too steep for a watch, however nice it may be. Perhaps someday, when my hair turns silver, when the kids have been born from a mother I'm yet to marry, have been raised in a house I'm yet to build an have gone through studies I'm yet to pay for... Perhaps then will the moment have come for a Nautilus... Until then, I'm very willing to consider whatever Breitling, IWC, Rolex and the like come out with, but do not feel compelled to purchase any of it right now. |

Might be a controversial opinion, but I find them a bit unspectacular... They don't have quite the personality of the Luminor 1950... To my eyes at least ![]() Didn't meet a Pam that'd have made me look away from my 351 yet... But who knows what the future holds... Oh no, hang on, almost forgot I'm healed! ![]() |

you know its funny that you posted this. i was going to make a similar post to this a couple of days ago. But i know exactly how you feel. for the first time in over 2 years i can say that i am happy with what i own. i do not feel the need nor want to add a single watch into the rotation. in terms of watches i have less than most and more than some. a year ago these words would have never come out of my mouth, but now i just cant see myself buying another watch for a very long time. part of it has to do with this not being my primary interest, but more so I really think it has to do with the fact that I am looking of large chunks of money just sitting around. i just dont get that same giddy feeling that i once did. so to me thats a sign that its not that fun to me anymore. i will still keep what i have and for now im just happy to sit in the pocket |

Hi, my name is Larry, and I'm a watch addict too. I haven't bought a watch in 2-months, 10-days, and 12-hours. |
