A punter came in yesterday sporting an IWC 3717 pilot watch. He didn't turn my head but his watch did. It's the 70's Timex clarity of the digits (plus non-70's Timex engineering) that did it for me. Before I buy myself an unexpected Xmas prezzie is there any other make I should be looking for that has a similar sort of look?

I'm new to high end watches so consider that you are talking to a moron.

There are less expensive similar designs by Archimede, Epos, Steinhart, etc. They is also the new IWC model 3777 which has been slightly modified.

By the way, I own the 3717 and like the dial design for readability and sportiness.

Not a great picture...

Yup, that's the beauty. The newer version seems to be on sale for the same price as three year old second hand ones which speaks volumes for the esteem in which the old one is held.

The Stowa is similar but not in the same league price-wise.
