Post subject:  What would be your choices?

I have a 2 tone Rolex Submariner and a Tag Aquaracer.

I just got a job promotion at work "Dept of Veterans Affairs" and now I cannot wear jeans and t shirts to work every day  I have to be a big boy and wear nice clothes...So, I need a couple more watches for some variety instead of just wearing the same 2 watches to work.

I am looking at some Omegas, Tudor and Breitling watches but if you could buy 3 or 4 watches, and your limit was about $2500.00 for each watch, what name and models would you pick? These can be new or vintage watches. I am looking at buying 3-5 watches and just looking to see what you guys might pick.

I am really eyeing the Tudor Submariner..but what other name brands would you guys go for with the price range I have given?

Thanks
Shawn

I'd look for used on forums like here or WT or others. A lot of ADs sell used on here as well.

If it was me, I would go for a Superocean, a Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm (45 if you have a big wrist), and if you are willing to spend a little more, a Breitling Chronomat Evolution. I have the Breitling Blackbird and I think its among the coolest of watches made and if you like a chronograph but one that isn't flashy or 'busy', the Blackbird is a win. I wear it daily with my suit and I have about 15 custom made straps for it that I switch out.

You can also find a Breitling Superocean Steelfish almost new for 2 grand or less, and it has a style very different from the two you have, and the Omega Speedmaster offers a nice counter to the Seamaster also starting at 2-ish used. I don't know much about Tudor but if you are looking for a variety, a Breitling and an Omega are must have. Other possibilities that people seem to like would be the UN Marine Maxi, Seiko Marine Masters, Citizen Atomic Controlled Japan-only models, Oris (lot of watch for the money and solid design), Sinn (U series are pretty hardcore), and of course there are PAMs which is really popular in the office crowd, and I think partially because they are so unique and masculine (they are getting pricy tho).

edit: congrats on the promotion! I do a lot of gerontology research and I've done subcontracted work for you guys. You guys do great work that is so important to the US. What took you in that career path?

That's easy- Navitimer 806. You may be hard pressed to find a good quality one for $2.5k, but it's worth a shot.

$2000 for a lightly used Breitling Steelfish and a used ceramic Omega SMP for $2500 are pretty much the best value for money high quality watches you can buy imho.

Omega Speedmaster gets my vote. One of the Professional versions, 3570, 3572 or vintage.
