My Son n Law grads from California Highway Patrol (state police agency) and want to present him a good, solid , rugged all black work watch with a Milatary Time option as all Radio Correspondence is based on 24 hr time... Rubber Band probably preferable. I tend toward the Dress Watch, any good Feedback appreciated.... Thanks. ![]() |

Budget? Mechanical or quartz? I think you may struggle to find something that fits in terms of tending towards the dressy, but also being black, rugged and no-nonsense. Those two tend to be somewhat mutually exclusive. If you are thinking of Breitling, then there are a multitude of Blacksteel models out there that would satisfy the black and rubber-strap requirements, but none with a GMT function (yet!) and none of them could be described as remotely dressy. |

my best suggestion is really a Gshock. the only thing is that its not the most expensive piece that you could get someone. i have seen a TON of military and law enforcement people sporting them. |

Very comfortable and light, and would be great for someone as active as a Highway Patrolman. I hear G-Shocks are a great option as well, but I have never been able to get into digital watches. I would be hard pressed to wear a Ling, even one as robust as say the Seawolf in a patrol capacity, but in reality i am sure it could take anything you throw at it. |

As of right now. With Breitling your best bet is the Chronospace limited edition. Comes in all black steel and not only military time but also 2 additional time zones. Even has a light up display. With the options of a rubber band and black steel mesh! |
