I've had the Panerai itch for a while now and had all but settled on the PAM 320. However, I've always thought it was slightly too big for my wrist. Thus, I was elated to see the PAM 392 released at Basel last March. I've been looking everywhere to see it in the metal and FINALLY found it yesterday at Selfridges in London. They didn't even have it in the case; it was hidden away in a drawer somewhere. As an aside, this place has a watch department that rivals Harrods, so if anyone is in London, I recommend stopping by. Anyway, to anyone else who may be interested in the 392, I would strongly suggest you see it in person before making a decision. I really didn't like it . . . at all. For some reason, it just looks odd. Sure, it fit my wrist a little better that the 320, or any other 44mm 1950s case for that matter, but it just didn't look right. It more closely resembles a 40mm PAM than a 44mm one. I really, really wanted to like the 392, but I don't think it's enough to steer me away from the 320. The sales guy did break out a 359, which I must say is incredible in the metal. Just when I thought I could settle the 320 vs. 392 battle, I left the store with a new one: 320 vs. 359. |

Did the case seem too thick? The one thing I worry about with the 3 day in house 1950 cases is that they're too thick. When you take 4mm off the case size as well, I just think it would feel too tall on the wrist. The 359 is a cool piece but I wish it was brushed opposed to fully polished. |

The case on the 392 definitely didn't seems overly thick. However, it's overall proportions just didn't seems right. It was a very odd size Panerai. It could totally just be my opinion, but it just doesn't work. The 359 and 320, in the other hand, do have exceptionally thick cases. The more I try them on, the less large they look to me, though. I'll play around with the 392 if I ever find it again. Perhaps my opinion will change. For now, I just wanted to warn anyone interested in it to try it on before buying, as is good advice with any new purchase. However, I had assumed the 42mm would look fantastic on my wrist and I ended up pretty disappointed. |

I was thinking the 392 might be too small of a case for how thick the watch would be. I'm still curious to see it since like you I was glad to see the in house movement in a 42mm luminor case. Besides that one, I'm hoping to see a 388 soon. |

at one point i would say that i had some sort infatuation with this brand, but I am glad that I never owned one. I love the fact that the resale value on Panerai is awesome but their pieces never really fit my wrist. i would love to see one of these in person but i think that it would be too thick for me to ever own |
