I would like some opinions please as I value everyone knowledge here. I sold my Breitling Steelfish which I really love alot to help fund my new Omega Planet Ocean with the 2500D movement model 2201.50. The Omega is a awesome watch. I bought it 6/2012. My problem if you want to call it that is the watch is not popping for me. One of the nice things about the Omega is the movement of course, but I'm just not bonding with it as I had hope. I really love the new 42mm Abyss and would like one of those or maybe a Chrono as I just love the 7750's. Now I have heard good and bad thing about the Abyss and I know the Omega 2500D is a way better movement than the cal. 17, but that's just my opinion. Breitling make a very fine movement as well!

I think I need a little dash of color to make it pop of me. I can buy a new dial with the Orange 6,9 and 12 with just might work for me and give it the pop I'm looking for. For that matter I could also buy the orange bezel to really set it off. What are your feeling on the Abyss vs the Omega. I really wanted and saved for the Omega mainly for the movement. The Abyss has had my eye ever since they first came out. I know some don't care for the new style over the older Steelfish and wish I had keep mine, but that's how we learn!

If I keep the omega and make some changes will that void my warranty even though I would have Omega change the dial. Would going to the Abyss be a down grade in anyone opinion? So, keep, sell or trade?? Thanks guys!

To me it looks like you miss that Steelfish a lot.

I know what you mean about the PO being a little bland - no pop. I've debated buying one with the orange arabics and every time I look at it for while I get a little bored with it. The Abyss will definitely give you more color and come across as more casual/sport. PO is more dress/sport to me.

For me, the movements are pretty much giving you a three hand diver either way, both should keep good time, not a factor either way.

Sell the PO (no dial change, etc.) and take your time, revisit the Abyss, look for something that really puts a smile on your face. May come soon or may take some time, no hurry :) .

Just my thoughts, not worth much. Good luck with your decision.

i agree with Kodiak. Sounds like you miss the SF.

I'd recommend listing the PO for a price you are happy to sell it at, and wait for a buyer to come along. In the meantime you can enjoy it, and work out what you want to replace it with :-)

I feel this way about the entire Omega line. I know they're extremely well made, but just have never moved the needle on my wow meter.

I think modifying your PO dial and/or bezel would just be delaying the inevitable. Sell it and buy something that gives you happy feet.

Thanks guys for the honest answers! I thought it might have been just me that thinks it need a little splash of color. I just love my Breitlings that I have had and really would love to give the new Abyss a test drive. I love to look at my wrist during the day and have that smile show up! I know we buy and wear what makes us happy. After all that is what it is all about! The PO is slowly growing on me and I think I'll just leave the Bezel and dial for now and maybe down the road I'll run across a Abyss that sings to me and I'll move the Omega for that, but for now the Omega is a awesome classic and I'll wear it with pride! Thanks guys for your honest answers as it always helps to look at things from a different angle! After all it needs to put that big smile on your face when you look down at your watch during the day! Thank you again for your valued input!

Here is a shot of my new PO!

Ok, I went ahead and made the deal on my Planet Ocean. A lot of good advice you guys gave me and after a long night I went ahead and did the deal. It came out better the I had hope! I was offered the Breitling SOH with everything as new and not one mark anywhere! He also added and Seamaster bumper auto with a fresh full service ans case polish. Brand new Croc band plus a ring that I had my eye on! Not bad and I'm very happy. I got 2 comments in the first 2 hours of ownership of how they really like the color and style. I had my Planet Ocean and never got even one remark about it. I just love the new SOH! Here are some pictures of my haul! lol Sorry they are not better, but it late and I'll get some nice ones in the morning! What do you think? Did I do ok or like a nice PO get away, but the Breitling sure make me feel good!

What matters is that you're happy with your deal. It appears you like a watch that has a distinctive look and you certainly have that. Also, a nice old vintage Omega. Rings aren't my thing, but you got a number different things to admire. Congratulations on you being happy and excited about your new watch(es).
