Hello,

I am considering UN Maxi Marine Diver Chronograph and was wondering about the track record of this brand. This watch speaks to me, but I notice there is not much of a dealer network in the states and am concerned about reliability, ease of service, etc. Any insights would be appreciated.

have no experience with this brand. i have seen some of their pieces and they do look cool. my opinion......as long as you love it then all the other things just dont matter.

I think they are good watches make some nice pieces I know a watchmaker that works for them and he said their a good brand
and as long as it appeals to you and you like it thats what matters. its a good swiss brand. hope this helps. :D :D

UN has a wide range of products. Some of their watches are very high end and very original in design and manufacture. Others are nice watches with modified eta movements. They are criticized for charging a lot of money for watches with the eta movements. I owned a g m t model and thought the build quality was excellent. The movement is modified to some extent and I have heard that servicing can be pricey, though I don't have a good range for you . if you already like the style of the watch, I don't think you would be disappointed. I would like to own 1 again some day.

I like the one I had, but in the end regretted the price I paid for it. Excellent brand, but crazy priced for the ETA movement models.

Am I correct in remembering that you said the bracelet felt a bit flimsy? That concerned me when you said it, as I was considering a Maxi-Marine Chronometer at the time.

Actually no. Loved the bracelet. It was thinner than most Breitling's but formed to the wrist and was very comfortable. But a simple modified ETA three hand with an aperture for a second time zone hour priced at something like $6500 was a bit off the beam. And given the lack of any meaningful decoration on the movement, I wouldn't have put a display back on it.

I must be misremembering, then. Forget I brought it up - I don't want to start rumblings about the (lack of) quality of UN's bracelets.
