Post subject:  Vintage Chronograph Question

Never know if I should post these non-Breitling questions in the vintage section so please move as necessary.

Found a nice looking vintage chrono that I like. The movement is a VALJOUX 232. I can't seem to find out much about this when searching. Typically, or I guess I should say in my limited experiance, the vintage watches I have been interested in seem to have the same movement show up in different brands. Wondering if this is a decent movement, somthing to avoid or what other light you all can shed on the subject.

Looks nice and clean to me - steller states all functions working.

movement looks very clean, Valjoux 232 is a late bicompax version of the 23/72 family:

outstanding movement, closely related to the "grail" caliber used in the very early Navitimer 806s, the Valjoux 72

232 is a 23 variant, more usual to see 234, 236 or 23C, but it's a very nice movement, parts are still available and that looks to be in pretty good condition.

Edit, Fred beat me to it.

Thanks, perhaps this is one to keep on the radar. I really like the look of the watch in the same vein of the 70s Breitlings and Huers with two sub dials at 3 and 9. Sort of chrono-matic with the date at the 6 o'clock position. My first vintage Zodiac purchase (two actually already sold one) was sort of hit and miss. Loved the look and the size was not all that small, but so thin that it seemed lifeless. This one is 40mm so should be right in the sweet spot. Fingers crossed the price does not go up too much. Can't find any similar sales any guess on fair price. Id did find one close to it on TZ that is not working for $400. Seller claims if you got the two needed parts for the borken movement it would be worth $1K...I am skeptical on that. Guess on these models where not many around it is pretty much worth what the high bidder is welling to pay it for.

It should be sub $1,000 - probably around $700 - $800.
