Does anyone here have any practical experience of Clerc watches (specifically the Hydroscaph) as I've known about them for a while, but no-one I know has owned or even seen one in the metal. I've read up about them over a period of time - although I still can't find out what their base movement is(!) - but without knowing anyone with practical experience it's kind of difficult to make an assessment.

Personally I think the Hydroscaph LE is a fantastic looking piece - http://oceanictime.blogspot.ch/2012/02/ ... hrono.html

But it's a fair bit of of cash at around $10K.

I was looking at the Odyssey for a while, no experience with this specific piece. The 'standard' watches are ETA based, but these more adventurous pieces are all described as having 'exclusive' movements which I assume means that they are outsourced to a small movement house to produce to a design that is exclusive to Clerc - not true in house, but not generic either.

From handling a few pieces the fit and finish seems to be very good - despite the more avant garde style they handle well and fit nicely. Can't comment on how well they stand up over time, but haven't heard anything negative. If I was going to get a Hydroscaph I think that it would be the GMT version.

I was just looking at those as well and thought i would do a search on here...and there you go.

I couldn't find much information on them, the Hydroscaph does look interesting. I'd love to see one in person.
