Just read this very interesting article on TZ.

http://www.timezone.com/2012/07/11/cart ... s-dowling/

Cartier is really stepping it up. Don't know if it's going to have any significant impact on the watchmaking industry as a whole in terms of the tech being used, but interesting and creative nevertheless.

That is very cool. I love it when a company not only pushes the envelope, but is prepared to share that with its customer base (and rivals). Unlike some brands we could mention.......

Nice article, neat technology, unfortunately it looks terrible on the wrist.

Some amazing innovation in there, but I agree with mjfur - it looks hideous on the wrist. The clear ceramic looks like plastic. But if any of that tech makes it into production watches (which some of it undoubtedly will), the Cartier are putting themselves right at the forefront of watchmaking.

Cutting edge for sure...amidst the many innovations, the simplified gears are strikingly elegant.

Really, really interesting piece from a technical standpoint. However, on the wrist it visually resembles a Swatch.

Extremely interesting read, especially the parts of aerodynamic forces on the balance, and the use of exotic materials.

The crew at Cartier seem to be taking the Harry Winston crowd by the horns.

I've never been a fan of a cabochon on the crown but, that watch is brilliant.

I thought the exact same thing, it actually looks good as a prototype but horrible on the wrist (also would like if the hands were longer)
