A very strange thing happened to me the other day:
As you may recall I am lucky to own both the Limited Edition Moonphase Spring Drive and Limited Edition Chrono GMT Spring Drive.
The Chrono had become a daily watch that I wore at the shop, etc. As a result it has a few minor blemishes, which don't bother me at all. The Moonphase, however, was only worn at home in an evening when I was relaxing and as a result was in as-new condition. I find the moonphase display and sweeping seconds hand calming and relaxing. Not sure why, but there you go.
A customer of the shop asked to see my Moonphase with the idea of ordering one if he liked it, so I took it in with the boxes, etc. He did, of course, love it and decided he wanted it there and then and bought mine!
I ordered a replacement watch and when it came it had the same Limited Edition number as my Chrono Spring Drive. That in itself is spooky beyond the realms of fiction. However, the number 146 has significance to myself and my family because it was the house number of my Grandma who lived local to us when I was growing up and I, therefore, have lots of fond memories of many childhood visits there.
I don't beleive in fate or karma but I have to admit that the chain of events that led to this was very strange. It makes a great pair of watches even better now.
I'm thinking of buying an Seiko Astron Limited Edition when it becomes available. I wonder if I could request number 146.
